Guest TGWS Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 There are about two different releases, with a couple of updates for each. Enjoy! Cheers, but i mean, when everything is working Tom
Guest DanWilson Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 (edited) Cheers, but i mean, when everything is working Tom Dunno. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe next year. Maybe never. Maybe none of the above. But definitely not the first :( :) Whaaa- ;) /Quick Off Anyone notice how there is no post one? Non-Existant Edited October 6, 2010 by DanWilson
Guest flip360 Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 the sanfran seems to have occupied the most time of our devs except for tom who is still going at it (i presume)
Guest Simon O Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 the sanfran seems to have occupied the most time of our devs except for tom who is still going at it (i presume) It's taking some of my time but I've not had much time the last few weeks. And sadly there is only Tom that works on the Froyo port. I just don't have the knowledge to tinker with the code :) We haven't left you all though. I've been in the blade forum trying to keep the noobs in order!

I've been in the blade forum trying to keep the noobs in order! Haha, a lot of people learning Android with a budget phone, from where is that familiar :) Good they have a very solid shepherd then. Off topic: how's your experience with the SF so far, is it that much better? And back on topic, do you plan to assist Tom on the CM build or do you stick to FLB 2? Cheers, glad to see you drop by the Pulse forum once in a while:P
Guest igor_anta Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Tom, where art thou? How is the progress on the CM6 port, any news yet? Feels like the quiet before the storm here :) Cheers!

Where is the san fran forum, I can't seem to find it? Want to know how this is progressing since it looks like I'm going to have to get one if I want froyo.

Want to know how this is progressing since it looks like I'm going to have to get one if I want froyo. Link Whats wrong with froyo on the pulse? CM6 is very cool, I've actually been using my Pulse for the last couple of days (its normally a full time dev phone) and CM6 on the Pulse is so much faster than my X10 with a standard rom. I figured out the wifi problems in CM6 last night, so will look at getting a rom out in the next day. There are still some features not working, but it is very usable. According to Royal Mail my SanFran is now into the Australian postal system, so I will hopefully have it on Monday. Does anyone know anything about MIUI? A user PM'd me about porting it to the Pulse. It looks very cool, but I don't think it would work well on a low res screen. Is source available?

But anything i find, you probably found first.... I really wish I had money / Paypal so I could donate to you. Anyone willing to donate money to Tom for me? Why not ask the Acer Liquid forum? They ported the ROM over to their phone, so they must know something. Edited October 8, 2010 by DanWilson
Guest flip360 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) +1 here for donating but my country is unlisted in PayPal ;) froyo works great here also, from the first day i can say. Great work Tom G hope you dont jump ship with the ohitsnotsogoddafterall sanfran on the way :) i have seen the MIUI and it would be great if we can port it somehow Edited October 8, 2010 by flip360

MIUI Rom: http://djmcnz.batteryboss.org/MIUI/deodexed/ "Rom porters" use this "source" to port the MIUI with resizing the framework, replace the drivers (accelerator, wifi, etc.). I think, with some replace, we can get MIUI. Edited October 8, 2010 by hungary
Guest thisweb Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 ZTE Blade forum. I can't be bothered linking it, but it's under the Pulse. Ahh thanks, I thought it was the ZTE racer. I see a couple of problems - no trackball/dpad and no front camera! I'll hang on to my pulse me thinks.
Guest gusthy Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Quite hopeful eh? Maybe today :( (By the way, that first image is Pauls improved version of my spliced :) and ;)) Lol lpl Btw, for my needs, Pulse with froyo is perfect - camera and video are nice to have features. Only important thing is manual network selecton, if this one is fixed, I will not consider spending around 200-250 USD for an other budget phone that will be considered "limited" in half a year....

It is really, really nice BUT video and camera not working is a deal breaker for me and I'm guessing the camera issue isn't likely to be fixed without any help from the manufacturer. Anyway, I'm sticking with my beloved pulse having realised the sanfran has no front camera or dpad/trackball!! Paaah! :)

Guest Tom G Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 What works / doesn't work with CM6? The big one is that video works (and incredibly well, youtube is working better than on the X10). Not working sensors (not sure why, they were easy to get working in aosp). bluetooth (this also is different to aosp) camera (I haven't even tried yet) the GPS bug from aosp is still there the netcfg permissions problem is still there. I can't figure out how that works in the official roms. Looking at the rpc device permissions in the standard roms rild shouldnt work. Thats all I can think of. Obviously some features like tethering aren't going to work, but I don't consider them a requirement for a fully functioning device. A side-effect of bluetooth not working is that the fix I have been working on for the wifi MAC problem may not work as it may not be able to read the BT MAC. I think the BT problem is fixable, I haven't really looked at it yet.

GPS Bug? Like reboots or just can't get position? Did we have this netcfg problem with the 0.50 ROM / FLB-MOD 2? I don't get what that is. So this is full CM6 with everything but the above working, nothing cut out? You are awesome.

Unfortunitely I think that one is going to be very difficult to fix. I think it is a problem with a change in the ril interface. I'm hoping that a combination of some files from another device might help, but probably not. The other option is to try and port the eclair interface into froyo. More investigation is needed.
Guest flip360 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) Almost a fully working CM6 port, AWESOME!!! Didnt we just replace the sensor libs with the one from the official UK upgrade? (correct me if i am wrong)? The bluetooth and the camera are of no real use to me but the wifi and gps problems are a bit annoying. What can we do to fix these? (besides netcfg) If there is something i can do to test or just poke around, please let me know, Cheers Edited October 8, 2010 by flip360

I was going to try writing a driver for it in aosp and I think it would have worked, but the eclair binary worked so it wasn't necessary. GPS bug means reboots from disabling and re-enabling GPS. Pos should work but I haven't tested it. The netcfg problem has been in all versions, but I think flibblesan included the workaround into his roms. I will probably include the workaround into the CM6 rom, its just a bad way to fix the problem.
