Guest Matt Whitfield Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Um, AlexP... those karts are a bit quick mate!! Jeez... Mind you, I was initially a bit intimidated by the 2-stroke 100cc kart I drove but it's surprising how soon you get used to the speed, but then that was only around 80mph and not 100mph+... The main problem I found was the tendency of the 100cc kart to lock the back wheels, thus stalling the engine and wanting to put you into a spin, so I can imagine all round brakes are a lot better...
Guest dan.peterson Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 I wish I could get to enjoy a two stroke jobby once in a while. oh well.
Guest ChrisJM Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 alex p I LIKE it,i might get a 125 next year i will race it ;) Did u buy it new :?: how much was it :?:
Guest AlexP Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 Don't want to scare you but a brand new one in current 2003 spec would cost around £1700 - £2500 + tuning for the engine and £2000 for a short circuit chassis or £2300 - £3000 for a long circuit chassis. You can buy a good s/h outfit for around £2500 with lots of spares and race it at club events.
Guest ChrisJM Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 I thought so do u thing i could get a good one second hand for less than a thousand :?:
Guest AlexP Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 You might if your're lucky, but then you might buy more problems for your money than it's worth, and if you intend to race it at club level you will have to make sure it's got the latest spec tyres and the chassis and engine are homologated by the MSA before you can race it. The going rate for a resonable S/H one would be around £1500-£2000 depending on what type of engine model and chassis age and history it's got. If your're in no hurry then the best time is at the end of the season (Nov-Dec) time when most of the good stuff is for sale as most people want new stuff for the next year. Have a look at the following link for some idea of prices. http://www.karting.co.uk/MP/
