I am running the Modaco Stock ROM Kitchen "10/May ERD79 -> EPF21B - Stock ROM for Nexus One images / zip / online kitchen (optional root / insecure / himem)":

http://android.modaco.com/content/google-n...insecure-himem/

- ROM = Stock EPE54B

- BOOT = SuperBoot with Himem

- RECOVERY = Amon_Ra's Nexus One Recovery 1.7

- The FROYO 2.2 OTA will work automatically ?

- Do I have to go back to the STOCK Recovery image ?

- Do I have to go back to the STOCK Boot image ?

- If I get the OTA can I save it as OTA.ZIP and then from the Amon's Recovery do Update from Zip ?

Thanks

From what i know you won't be able to get the OTA installed if you're using a non-stock Recovery image. So basically you need:

1)Stock rom (for getting the OTA update)

2)Stock recovery image (for installing it properly)

Regarding the boot image, i don't think that should be a problem.

Not sure about updating to 2.2 from Amon Ra via .zip.

I followed the instructions in the following thread:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614850

And after the installation I got Build ERD79 (original shipping ROM), almost immediately I got the OTA update to 2.1-update 1 and now my device has the build ERE27 (official update).

That means if you go back to Stock ROM and Recovery, the OTA process should work fine.

It seems that this OTA update is only available in US now. So does this trick work if the device is not in US?

PS: I'm in China mainland and considering to flash back to the stock images.

Not sure if the code is doing anything, however, reverting back to stock image + recovery will allow you to install the update.

I did try to force the update with the code but nothing, I only get a Triangle in the status/menu bar with the message "checkin result, success", but nothing else
