Latest Opera 10 beta does crash sometime. Exspecially after a autorotate to landscape mode.

You may give a try with Skyfire.

Get netfront 4.0 beta 2 from February 2010

I love it , the UI is abit dry but it works very well. Set it to full screen. IF you give it a chance i am sure you will like it.

Next to opera 9.5/9.7/10 this is the next best browser. Skyfire is to slow.. panning around on it is horrible. Same with IE.

To be honest, no browser on WM performs as well as Safari Mobile does on the Iphone.

While rendering speeds are sometimes better/sometimes worse than Safari's (compared to Opera Mobile 10), the browsing experience is nowhere nearly as smooth as on the Iphone.

And I'm definitely not an Apple Fanboy. I love Opera`s products, but on WM they can´t compete with the Iphone and it's browser.

That being said, i don't blame Opera or other browser companies for not delivering a stunning browser on Windows Mobile, because, let's face it, WinMo is helplessly antiquated in every technical aspect and basically dead after the announcement of Windows Phone 7.

Quite a lot of people don't know that there is Opera Mobile and Opera Mini available on windows mobile, browsers like Opera Mobile, Skyfire, Netfroont etc. will never be as fast as Opera Mini. Opera Mini has a unique feature of website rendering on server side, not on device, thanks to that data consumption is very low ( up to 80% web data compression), what is more battery last longer wile surfing the interment because device doesn't have to render website. Opera Mobile works great on wifi connection, it performs almost like standard PC browser.

 True, and it`s a great application which i use a lot. But the fact that Opera Mini (as well as Skyfire) renders Pages on their own Servers and sends a compressed website to your phone is a potential problem for security and privacy.

While I have no doubt that Opera is a great company, I would NEVER use Opera Mini for online banking or surfing on sites that require my personal information / a password. Imagine their servers being hacked or your personal info being saved on their servers...and eventually sold :D I know this might be a little paranoid, but you just don`t know.

However, Opera Mini isn't a real "browser" so comparing it to Safari on Iphone would not be fair. It`s still a great app for casual surfing, though.

It's truly a pity that none of the WM browsers is as good as Safari. I don't know if that is anything to do with the WM platform though, or is it purely not as good on software engineering?

On rendering, I'm ok with Opera. However, one thing I hate most is you need to wait till web pages fully loaded before you can really browse. Safari doesn't have problem, you can browse as long as it starts to load the page. If you compare the time it takes Safari and Opera to load a page, the time is probably similar, but the point is I DON'T NEED TO LOAD THE FULL PAGE! Most often, you just need to go to a certain section which you know where it is, the browser should allow clicking on links or browsing as much as the contents are loaded, no need to wait for full page load!

If it is pure speed of browsing you want, try out a browser called Mach5Web. It is similar in technology to Opera Mini, only that it is 10 times faster. No browser on any phone platform is as fast as Mach5web, I can load web pages as fast as on my desktop. However, data is going through some company's server like Opera Mini, so don't use that for banking. That said, I still uses Opera Mini most of the time as Mach5web does not have the fit-to-screen technology, so browsing is a nighmare. Also, it's not free after the 30 days trial.
