Just tested, this works :-

1) install AE Button Plus

2) map button 2 to Display off

3) start recording

4) press button 2 to switch off display

5) use the sleep button to bring the screen on again

Not need buy AeButton+. Maybe download my new beta v0.4 cab and run camera with my shorcuts Enhanced/Media/Camera Sleep (this run camera.exe and after 60 sec. display auto off) or run camera.exe and then run Enhanced/Display/Display OFF shortcuts

ok, some questions :

1) re your 1st suggestion, does the screen goes off 60 sec no matter what? if I'm taking photo it'll still go off after 60 secs? can I turn it back on and it'll time out again after 60 secs?

2) re your 2nd suggestion, how can one run the display off shortcut when recording? once you alt-tab to another app, the recording will stop....
