I upgraded to official 2.1 version using the UPDATA file on hungarian website.. It seems i do not have access to root any more.. and app2sd is not working either...

How do I get app2sd on 2.1 now? Did I do something wrong?

Thanks.

Oops, I wish I'd seen this before I foolishly went ahead and used the Hungarian update to 2.1.

I am a complete beginner with Android and so naturally I bought the Pulse and updated it the day I got it (I am feeling the shame ;)) . Now I am finding that the phone must keep running out of RAM. I tried playing some music from my 8gb SD card, but it kept trying to refresh the library, appeared to have done that and then only played the first few seconds of a song before throwing itself out of the music player.

I realise that (currently) there is no way of downgrading back to the ROM my Pulse came with (1.5?), so I am going to try flashing just the dload part without the Hungarian customisation (I don't know if that might help or make it worse). I've seen a couple of posts about Vanilla 2.1 ROMs - will I be able to experiment with them now that I have used the Hungarian update? And can anyone recommend a post which shows 'An idiot's guide to using the Pulse' or 'How to get the best out of your Pulse' in a similar way to Steve Litchfield's guides to the 5800 XM and the N97 on Symbian?

And lastly, what is the general feeling about something which installs the apps onto the SD card to try to preserve as much RAM on the phone as possible, as that is a valid solution for Symbian phones, I thought it might help me, but I gather that it is not without problems for the Pulse.

Thanks in advance for any tips, and yes, I promise I will start searching the forum and reading any relevant posts, but it's always helpful just to have an indication of where to start reading...!

Hi, it is now possible to downgrade from 2.1 to 1.5 :(

Just look here.

I'll add this to the my first post.

But try a custom ROM first, like the FLB-Mod or Oscillation ROM.

For a HowTo just look here :)

Best regards,

BigBear
