Like I have explained that copy-and-paste is restricted on the i8000, however I have found a work around with “My Text” in the sms menu. On the i900 one would have typically used this for detail usage of the same info needed to be sending as a text sms for example bank and address details etc.

With the i8000 you could create your texts in MS Word doc then copy and paste into the sms text box? This works fine, it is not as quick as selecting “My Text” which then includes text from “My Text” in the sms menu, however it get the job done. It is better than nothing I think, it is more important to do it then not to have it (sms paste text from MS doc). Regarding “My Text” in the sms menu, I am not say you cannot edit and or included the same info into the i8000 sms text box. Because this entry only has one line visually I would type the info into MS doc with my i900 and the copy and paste it into the i900’s “My text”, which because of the one line visually made it easier to type in somewhere else because it is better visually and the paste it into “My text” number of entry to store. So it is not that the i8000 can’t do this too, however it has the same one line visually and do not allow for text to be pasted into like you had with the i900.

It would take a few steps to do this, however I am glad there is a way at least one could do this, I use this and was using this all the time with my i900 Omnia, texting people with my address and or bank details etc. I use my phone as a business tool so naturally the i8000 will take the place of the i900 as the next generation.

They have implemented another feature in the i8000, which the i900 users would have had an issue with at some point, applications running in the background which made the i900 very slow and or sluggish. Many users had an issue with not closing application properly. Many would then discover they had to use a “Task manager” and use end all tasks to resolve this issue. My mom use a i900 too she is 66 year old and I have seen her many times not close her applications properly, because in many cases one had to go to menu at the bottom and exit an application and not use the “X” to go out or end applications located at the top of the screen, now with the i8000 one can set up a preference setting which is “Enable to end running programs by tapping “X””, which work well for let’s say the older generation and not so technical minded users by just clicking on “X” at the top of the screen to close an application. This was never any issues for me; however loads of my family and friend had this issue. My mom would ask me to see why her phone would respond so fun and or not the way she is use to, and all time this was an issue or the cause why the phone responded so funny, so taught her to use task manger as well as set it up for her with a short cut button to use.

I still did not get a work around with the part on above mentioned info regarding copy & paste of the number time and date to be included into the sms text box, reply or forward, info into the sms text box which holds time & date and number on the i8000, on my i900 I could simply just copy and paste this into the reply or forward text box and send the text sms. On the i8000 I can’t find a way to do this yet, maybe they would have that in a newer firmware version I hope. It would be nice to have.

Having used the i8000 for several weeks now it is truly up on the i900, there were a few things with the i900 which were a bit of pain at times which I got to live with as it still was a great phone. No phone is truly perfect, does not matter which brand. Hence the facts that user customizes, and has the option on their phones to customize.

Now with the i8000 all those little things has been re-worked and sorted. Sometimes with the i900 if you scroll in the phone book and clicked on an entry one could not selected that entry with your fingers, just with mouse pointer or stylus (i900). As well as the Widgets which would move all over the screen once placed would move by accident as you would use and work with the i900, with the i8000 one have to click and hold on the Widget to get it to move on the screen, nice thinking Samsung very logical as well as the phone book. The other nice thing about the scrolling in phone book, it works much easier and great; you need to play with it to truly get what I am attempting to say. If you are an i900 user then the i8000 would be a breath of fresh air so to speak. One other logical thing with the i8000 if you click very briefly on an entry you do not get a selection by mistake which is nice because you have to click and hold for let’s say 1 to 2 seconds, which is great because on the i900 by just scrolling with your finger (This only happened when using fingers) you would and could accidently select an option by mistake. This do not happen with the i8000 when using fingers, work much better and much more finger friendly.

They have literally made it better, in so many ways:

The i8000 come with Windows 6.5 already which is nice, not having to worry about an update for most users this would be a slept, to do and get sorted, we as users just want to use our phone with the latest features and not having to go through the hassle to update. Simply because an update would mean having to go through the hassle to backup out data and then setting and then once back resorting data to the phone and having to setup phone setting with all the user preferences.

Having said that about the i8000 having Windows 6.5 on board, Samsung has customize the i8000 so much with their TouchWiz, you will find no visible traces of the i8000 running Windows. The menu’s work and look like other Samsung phones and models which run there TouchWiz OS. I must admit I prefer Samsung TouchWiz on the i8000, the workability and logical features is loads better then on or with the i900.

The text keyboard is much more fingered friendly, because they made it bigger, horizontal it is even bigger. Like I said, in my other blog entries, I mentioned and or stated a bigger screen for obvious reason, well this is one of those many obvious reason, the bigger screen is better with texting and other keyboard entries work much better ECT, it has a few thing which the i900 did not have, one can now select big Icons and select the size of the text to display bigger on the screen, now with a bigger screen and this feature as a user preference well do the math awesome and great to use. I am happy they have implemented loads of great logically great features, new as well made others better which you had in the i900 which was nice to have.

The sms text box on the i900 where most of the time a pain to use, either the keyboard would pop up an block some parts of the sms text box, or having difficulty with scrolling up to the name and number entry, just simply too much cramped into a small space. Replying to a sms text would be difficult most time too, one could not reference the text entry once typed in as only one or two visible lines where available because all had to be cramped into a small space, With Samsung’s TouchWiz this is no more the case, logical and not the same issues.

There was one nice feature which the i900 had which the i8000 do not seem to have, if for example, if you click on the send (sms sending) to and type number and or name entry box one could just type in name and a dropdown list would popup with the corresponding letter selecting the person to send to via the dropdown list (sms sending), without having to open up phone book to search for the persons number. The i8000 do not allow for this, it made it easy and quick with the i900, it would have been nice to have in the i8000 as well.

Do you all a favor go and experience the i8000 for yourself, especially the i900 owners as you would be use to the i900 and discover how much better the i8000 is, for the users that need to upgrade now like me, and I am due for an upgrade in two month time. The i8000 which I use now is a demo, so I can’t wait for my own i8000 as well looking forward to what would be included into the retail box, in terms of accessories etc.

I look at videos on the i8000 on YouTube and discovered a few nice tips and tricks. If you can’t get your hands on an i8000 now to use look at these videos to get some feel for the i8000.

I have enjoyed my i900, however having use of the i8000; it is just a much better experience.
