Guest Gonçalo Silva Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Using Quickboot gives me the same result. I think tonight I'm going to start from scratch ie. Swiss Sunrise 2.1 ROM Superboot AmonRa Hectics RBM-Eclair.fin ROM etc... and we'll see how it goes :( I have the same result with Quickboot and I followed the steps you mentioned (except installing Hectics's ROM). What are the advantages of this ROM over the original Swiss?
Guest Hectic Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Good news after all. Not so clear the deduction (more what's behind it) but the important part is that roms are swappable. Is this assumption correct even for A1, which seems to have slight different hardware configuration? Forgive me if I'm questioning about stupid/elementary subjects, but Android is a complete new world. BTW: is there a good place ( besides google search and millions of results) were we can learn about Android Rom structure? its ok, im also new at this Android stuff (i began 14 days ago). the U8220 and U8230 have similar hardaware. the problem in the past were the kernel of them. The U8230 had an 2.6.27 Kernel and the U8220 an 2.6.29. since last week (swiss update) we've got the same kernel, now are the hardware-drivers the same. my biggest problem is my limited english knowledge :( I have the same result with Quickboot and I followed the steps you mentioned (except installing Hectics's ROM). What are the advantages of this ROM over the original Swiss? the advantage are ~65Mb more Rom-Space :( i do what i can to get this rom faster

I'll make sure to try it out over the weekend, then :o I already got one warning for low space, which is very annoying. Also, is the performance speed noticeable? Also, can you include the fix mentioned in "Continuing Internet access will lead to traffic. Continue?"? If you haven't, of course.
Guest Hectic Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 (edited) hmm, for me its not so annoying but yes ill do that. ;9 Edited June 2, 2010 by Hectic

Guest Gonçalo Silva Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Nope Haven't been able to get Amonra Working Here's my recovery.log Failed to install your ROM, Hectic... Unfortunately my Amon Ra isn't working (with the same issues everyone else is having) and it prevented me from installing it. Is there any other way of using the update.zip method without using Amon Ra?
Guest Hectic Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Download this: http://rapidshare.com/files/393689857/hectic-root-rechte.rar start that .bat and reboot your device download the superboot.img http://www.android-hilfe.de/attachments/rb...s-superboot.zip to get root, got to the market and update "Quick Boot" for 2.0/2.1. and then start your recovery with quickboot.

EDIT: already flashed the imgs, all the same, even when booting in recovery via quickboot. Im going to use root explorer to try to find the location of recovery/log GOT IT: with the explorer, i found cache/recovery, but there s no file in there. Im going to create one named log, and i tell the results later EDIT: humm, strange, after i created the files and restarted the phone, the files are still there, but if i start in recovery, they are erased... Guest Gonçalo Silva Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Hectic, I'll try that later on. Will it erase the extra files in my current ROM that are not needed (aka, free some space)? Also, you have a few packages that can be erased: French.apk, German.apk and Italian.apk under /system/app. Since this is a Portuguese-focused ROM, English and Portuguese are enough :( You could also include the PT keyboard file :(
