I've tried charged my Omnia 2 with car charger, and it's work, but you should swicth off your Omnia2

jz modify the car charger. short together D+ and D- usb pin together. then it can charging ur phone.

Switching off/on while connected to car charger works too but is uncomfortable (yet useful, ie. when you have only borrowed charger). As others wrote, shortening the data- and + either in charger or cable used to charge is the best way.

Try switching the settings in the Data Connection under Phone Settings. I switched the USB function to Mass storage and it allowed me to charge without turning the phone off. If that doesn't work, try switching from "Use Phone Data Applications" to "Use Phone as a Modem".
