Guest dreamdealer Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Did you flash from Stock yourself? Im on rooted stock - HBOOT 075, gonna test this out in a bit and see how i get on. Is the gold card needed, i assume not but dont want to do this until im positive i know what im at :( Many thanks in advance my phone is unbranded so didn't use my gold card not sure if you still need it for other phones though, I just don't understand why although I don't have the latest radio, why the r3.1 works no problem and this doesn't for me.

Is the gold card needed, i assume not but dont want to do this until im positive i know what im at :( Many thanks in advance My Desire is a 'off the shelf' device that I bought in a electronic market. Not provider dependent. Thus, it has no branding, no simlock and no netlock. It is like god (htc) wanted it to be :-) Originally it had hboot 0.75 and firmware 1.15.405.4. I rooted it a few days ago using Pauls r5 method. Thus, after root I still had firmware 1.15.405.4, but rooted (su + superuser.apk). No other tuning took place. No A2SD. Yesterday, I used the recovery to flash my update.zip from the first post with success in the first run. No errors. No tweaking afterwards. Flashed it, turned it on again, used it. Since I bought my Desire I did not update radio or hboot or anything else. Goldcard is not needed if your device is directly from htc and not from a provider with branding. Hope this helps. Guest oclock Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) 32.30.00.28U_405.00.11 if that's any help. This is exactly what I have. Is your device from vodafone? Or did you buy it independently in a shop? Edited June 4, 2010 by oclock
Guest mountnorth Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 @oclock this one works on my device, just flashed it (and Superuser 2.1 right afterwards ^^) - any hint what you have done to create yours?
Guest dreamdealer Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 This is exactly what I have. Is your device from vodafone? Or did you buy it independently in a shop? no its not from Vodafone its from carphone warehouse or mobile.co.uk with a vodafone sim deal, updated to the latest radio now, so will try again tomorrow expecting a call soon so cant mess about too much at present.
Guest oclock Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 @oclock this one works on my device, just flashed it (and Superuser 2.1 right afterwards ^^) - any hint what you have done to create yours? This is basically what I have done: * I extracted system.img and boot.img from RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_sign d.exe * Unpacked system.img * Added su to /system/xbin * Added superuser to /system/app (Su+superuser.apk are from Paul´s rootedupdate.zip, so probably not the newest) * Packed everything to update.zip * Signed update.zip I did not modify anything else.
Guest Bunny0007 Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Sure about that? You might end up with apps2sd working. But without wifi working after that on mine. Update: I had 1.15*** rooted with apps2sd on a nonbranded Desire. Tried to apply the update.zip as provided in the first post. My phone went into a bootloop. So the only thing remaining was from the recovery: a full wipe apply the update.zip reboot till the login-screen powerdown back to recovery apply the apps2sd-fresh.zip reboot Now i have a rooted Desire 1.21*** with apps2sd fully working. Only thing I now have to do is, re-installing all my apps.... So just simpel updating from 1.15 to 1.21 with the provided update.zip is a nogo. Anyway, thanks for OP's for sharing.....

Guest oclock Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Update: * Integrated Superuser 2.1 (latest version) to the rootedupdate.zip. DL link in the first post. I did not test this rom. So, if it works for you, then please post here. The old version is still available...

Guest Heppieboeddah Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Sure about that? You might end up with apps2sd working. But without wifi working after that on mine. I can confirm that wifi is working. where to d/l apps2sd-fresh.zip You are able to download it here! so from recovery: Full wipe format sdcard! swap=0, ext=512MB, remainder fat32. Update ext2 to ext3 USB-toggle on Copy the update.zip and apps2sd-fresh.zip to youre sdcard USB-toggle off Apply/flash the update.zip Let the phone reboot till you reach the settingsscreen. Powerdown the phone Reboot the phone into the recovery. Apply/flash the apps2sd-fresh.zip. Reboot the phone and youre done. Once again, this was done on my nonbranded/retail Desire.

Guest perevers Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Just to be sure, is this also a ROM, or only a new radio thingy? Sorry if its a dumb question, im not much into the hole desire root thing
Guest oclock Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Just to be sure, is this also a ROM, or only a new radio thingy? Sorry if its a dumb question, im not much into the hole desire root thing There is *no* new radio inside. The update only updates /system and the boot image (kernel ...).
Guest perevers Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 There is *no* new radio inside. The update only updates /system and the boot image (kernel ...). Okay, so i have to flaash a Rom after flashing this file?
Guest tatey2457 Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Only if you don't still have the superuser.apk installed...worked fine for me, no need to instal anything else here
Guest PaulW21781 Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 (edited) Hi all I did this with a similar (same??) 1.21.405.2 ROM from Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694564 I've now included BusyBox with this release, as the ROM from Modaco doesn't contain it!... I've made a new A2SD++ (yes, 2 ++ not 1 +) Patch with the following features: Kernel base: richardtrip's UVOC v14 (or v11 if you experience issues) Kernel, with modified RAMDISK image by me to get A2SD working. Items moved to SD: /data/app /data/app-private /data/dalvik-cache I've also patched it so any SWAP partition you have created during partitioning of your SDCard is utilised. Previous A2SD Setups (and SWAP usage) on Stock ROM never worked. It does now! Download links: *PLEASE NOTE* Make sure you download the CORRECT PATCH FOR THE CORRECT ROM! The ROM was changed on 8th June, to include BusyBox. To check if you have BusyBox installed, go into an adb shell and issue the following command: #ls -l /system/xbin You're looking to see if everything in there lists as (for example): lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-06-07 18:45 chmod -> busybox lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-06-07 18:45 ftpget -> busybox lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-06-07 18:45 whoami -> busybox lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-06-07 18:45 lzop -> busybox lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-06-07 18:45 rmmod -> busybox lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-06-07 18:45 swapon -> busybox lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-06-07 18:45 crond -> busybox lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-06-07 18:45 hostid -> busybox If it does, you need to download the Patch for use with the ROM with BusyBox installed. If it doesn't list what is mentioned above, then grab the Patch which is for the ROM *WITHOUT* BusyBox, as this will also contain the BusyBox patch. Downloads: STOCK WWE 1.21 Kernel Base For use with Two O´Clock A.M. or Later ROM (or the Original O'Clock A.M. ROM as long as you have BUSYBOX Installed) UVOCv14 BASE For use with the ROM from here WITHOUT BusyBox (Downloaded & Flashed before 8th June) For use with the ROM from here WITH BusyBox installed (as of 8th June) OCv14 BASE For use with the ROM from here WITH BusyBox installed (as of 8th June) UVOCv11 BASE (For is you experience random crashes & reboots, I've found this to be more stable) For use with the ROM from here WITHOUT BusyBox (Downloaded & Flashed before 8th June) For use with the ROM from here WITH BusyBox installed (as of 8th June) BIG SHOUTY PLEASE NOTE BIT This is for a FRESH UNMODIFIED STOCK WWE 1.21.40 ROOTED ROM FROM THIS MODACO THREAD ONLY which is found in POST 1 of this thread! THIS IS NOT FOR USE ON OTHER ROMS OR CUSTOM ROMS OR THE XDA 1.21 ROM If you flashed one of my previous A2SD+ Patches (either r1-a2sd-desire-dalvik-fresh-signed or r1-a2sd-desire-dalvik-upgrade-signed), then you WILL need to do a reflash of the stock ROM again (no need for wipe) as the previous builds contained a different version of BusyBox which would basically overwrite the one in this ROM and cause a heap of trouble... USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! Edited June 12, 2010 by PaulW21781
Guest dreamdealer Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 @PaulW21781 Nice one, just what the doctor ordered. thanks.

Guest Mattias A Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 Thanx oclock and Paul - it is working perfect for me! :)
Guest oclock Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 (edited) Another update (see first post for download): * SW version 1.21.405.2 * Recompiled stock kernel with loopback device enabled (allows you to do 'mount -o loop ...') * Busybox 1.16.1 in /system/xbin and also already installed in /system/xbin (busybox is the latest version compiled by myself!) * Superuser 2.1 * Replaced /system/etc/firmware/fw_bcm4329_ap.bin with the one from HTC Evo 4g to make wifi tethering work * Android wifi tether 2.0.2-pre14 (installed in /data/app, thus can be removed and/or manually updated!) Tested wifi and wifi tethering on my device. And it seems to work without problems. Hope you like it and it works for you, too :) BTW: I am starting to give my ROMs names from now on. This one is called "Three O´Clock A.M." :-) oC Edited June 8, 2010 by oclock
