Guest DanWilson Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 So in short, we either need to use no apps to make sure that system things don't get killed, or get a swap partition working... I know what I'd rather, doing it though is totally different. :)

I thought it just needed to be put into the kernel, Paul tried it and either failed or gave up to play with other phones...

Swap could be put into swap file, not swap partition, then no problen with a2sd. Also, a2sd could be modified. The problem is, that in order to enable swap, sone changes in kernel is required, that cannot be applied as a kernel module. therefore kernel recompilation is needed. and we do not have kernel sources for 2.1. btw using swap doesnt help much, since it uses disk, CompCache is probably a better way. Indeed, it also requires kernel swap support.

Stupid question, but has anyone asked Huawei for kernel source? Is it a case of non open source drivers being used, or would it be worth asking? Maybe there could be a helpful leak...
Guest zerosignull Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 I'm getting 35->40MB free after a reboot + Nail open aps.
