Guest fredewis Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I'm currently on FLB v1.1 (HU v2.1 update). I use A2SD and currently have Dalvik cache on SD as well. Now I see a lot has happened whilst I was away for a few days (always the way!). Before I upgrade to FLB v1.31 I have a couple of choices. 1. Flash UK v2.1 (more data, less system memory) 2. Flash Tre v2.1 (more system, less data memory) Which should I choose, and why? you dont need to upgrate to any if you are happy with the rom you was using if you are just got to 1.31 if not uk or tre 2.1 before 1.31.
Guest adam p Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I originally updated my Pulse to 2.1 using the HU T-Mobile update, so I now need to update with either Tre or UK T-Mobile to get any firmware updates and avoid any HU T-Mobile Beta issues I assume that as all future FLB mods are going to fit on the UK partition sizes I may as well go for the UK T-Mobile update and have the benefit of the extra 10Mb in the data partition, as if the 10Mb is in the system partition it will be wasted if FLB mod doesn't use it - is this correct ?
Guest fredewis Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 hmmm can anyone help i have seem to not have root user anymore how do i get it back i types su on terminal and it said access denied

Yeah - that's what Flib mate promised (and he's the guy who does whatever he promises :) ) so there's nothing to worry about.
Guest davbren Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 works way better if you upgrade to UK first though. Good times.
Guest Pakatus Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 1 - Having used the 2.1 Sunrise update...and currently on FLBMod 1.2....will i have to update to 2.1 UK first and then to 1.31 to "adopt" the new partition sizes? 2 - If if flash with the TRE or UK Rom will i need to root it first before installing a recovery right? Are the rom's already rooted?
Guest Totyasrác Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I don't remember reading it anywhere but anyways I gave a shot to install 1.31 over 1.2. Well, couldn't really, installation aborted (stating "minzip: Can't create containing directory for "/data/dalvik-cache/placeholder": File exists W:Command copy_dir: couldn't extract "PACKAGE:data" to "DATA:" E:Failure at line 5: copy_dir PACKAGE:data DATA: Installation aborted. Failure at line 4: install_zip SDCARD:/flbmod_v1.31.zip") With a wipe it went smoothly though. Now I'll check if MMS functionality is back (that's the only reason I've left v1.2 :D). We'll see... :) Oh, a note: under "About phone" the Build states it's FLB-Mod 1.3, not 1.31 :D Minor issue, just to note.

Guest fredewis Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 hay flibb i just did a nan restore and now my 1.31 rom lost its superuser interface how can i get it back thanks mate.
Guest TobiasFP Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) I have tried everything to get my Danish Huawei U8230 working, but even the official hungarian 2.1 rom is very unstable, i am lucky if i can get my phone to boot correctly. I now tried to go back to danish 1.5, with the downgrade script apparently made for u8220.. It seams that the install went well and i could be able to downgrade, (it told me that the install was succesfull) and i have made it to boot into Android home screen, but it crashed soon after. I have tried several roms both made for u8230 and pulse, and every one had the same stability.. I usually use amon Ra, or clockwork recovery, you know, wiping dalvik cache and so on, but none the difference. I really love FLBMOD and would really like to make it work, so... What should be my next step? I am pretty sure i got the official 1.5 installed now, but still unstable, should i go to telia (danish carrier)? i would really like to try to fix it myself though, with FLBMOD. so if anybody has any suggestions i would be very glad. (BTW. i have read almost all of this string, tried everything in it, so anything recursive would not be of much help). Greetings and thanks in advance. Edited August 10, 2010 by TobiasFP

We'll see... :) Well, I kinda managed to fix MMS-issue, but not sure if it was because of the new ROM or zsolabola mate's help (had to change the MMS APN setting "Authentication method" from "none" to PAP. Anyone else having this issue could please confirm this? Edit: it's not enough to change the APN setting - has to press menu and select save (while inside MMS APN settings) in order to make it work... Should have been trying that one with v1.2 so that's what needs to be confirmed. Edited August 10, 2010 by Totyasrác

Guest Simon O Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) Hi Guys, haven't forgot you all. Just been a busy day today. Few people reporting that FLB 1.31 isn't as quick as previous versions. I found that myself but a few days ago I've replaced ADW with the latest LauncherPro 0.7.4.0 with some interesting results. This version seems to use a lot less memory than the last few and my phone has been responsive with it. Pressing the app draw button always loads the app draw quickly and I can scroll through the apps without any slowdown. Currently my phone has an uptime of 31hours 01minutes and 15seconds and it has been running on battery for most of that time. Current battery level is 78%. Battery Use: Android system: 67% (Use details: CPU total 9m 37s, CPU foreground 38s) Maps: 23% (Use details: CPU total 6m 4s, CPU foreground 4m 22s) Cell standby: 6% (Time on: 16h 13m 44s. Time without a signal: 0%) Phone idle 6% (Time on: 15h 11m 38s) Wi-Fi 2% (time on: 4h 31m 7s) Homescreen widgets: Snowstorm weather BattStatt twicca Digital Clock Widget Switchpro Widget Smooth Calendar Considering that I have Google Mail enabled, twicca checking for tweets every 15min, BattStatt monitoring the battery level, and SnowStorm updating the weather every hour, the battery life is pretty damn good. Widgets and applications are the key to battery life. If you use an app that doesn't release partial wake locks (looking at you Facebook) then you'll find your battery doesn't last long. Another top tip: If you have wifi at home and use this with your phone then switch your phone to use 2G networks. This increases battery life a lot. Where I live the 3G signal is poor and my phone is often switching between 2G and 3G desperately trying to get a good 3G signal. All this switching uses battery up as the phone increases radio power to try and get a good cell signal. Switching this to 2G, which is full bars, means I can use the device as a phone, receive SMS and MMS, but still have decent battery. And I still get all my notifications from twitter, google mail etc. I have SwitchPro widget installed and I've set one of the buttons to switch between 3g and 2g so if I'm not at home I can easily switch to a 3G signal, if it's strong enough. Final tip, if you are a twitter use... the official twitter app is a bit heavy on the old battery life (at least it is for me). Use a different client. I suggest twicca :) If anybody wonders if I use my phone, of course I do lol Edited August 10, 2010 by flibblesan

Guest _melchett Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) Hmm, first real experience of the roaming issue today (occasionally it occurs and you just have to choose the network again) but today (on 1.1 FLB) nothing worked. Resaving Apn, creating a new one and switching, turning airplane mode on/off, attempting to connect to a different network and then choosing 3 again, turning phone off, removing battery, removing sim, turning all data options on/off, even restoring a clockwork backup!. I was stuck without internet for about 6 hours (not helpful when you are going for an interview trying to research the firm you are going to see!) Therefore my conclusion is as follows: - do not travel to Kent. Once you go east of Ebbsfleet you will not have a working phone. Simple easy advice! (back to London i go!) EDIT: actually add Sussex to that list too. East of ebbsfleet= out of bounds, south of horsham = out of bounds. I'll test bournemouth and salisbury later in the week!
