Guest de_shepherd Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 2. Me and others have experienced Fancy Widget not updating... Now I was searching the Market for a digital clock widget (found many), and in one's (DigiClock Widget) description I've found this: "IF STOPS UPDATING, CHECK IF A TASK MANAGER IS KILLING IT!". So the root of the problems with FancyWidget after all is our good old memory issue :D Same for me ... and also I run battery indicator which similarily often stops updating 'cos it gets killed to allow a "running" app to continue. N.b. with fancy widget tapping the clock to go into settings then toggling the 12/24 hour format (twice to return to same state) will cause Android to resurrect it! Android's process/memory management is clever but I've read elsewhere that it is prone to problems once memory resources become tight and process that are meant to continue running get stopped.
Guest twrock Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 forget about the CHT rom and join the partttyyy flibbie's Mod is faster and much more stable on my cht8000 +1. Yes, forget about the official CHT 2.1 ROM and run FLB (unless there is some compelling reason why you have to have something in the official ROM that you can't get in FLB). Incidentally, I started with the Tre ROM as my base. I don't know if that matters, but I had problems with the Hungarian ROM. Haven't tried the UK one.

So the root of the problems with FancyWidget after all is our good old memory issue :D Add me to that list. I prefer Digiclock widget, but it also stops updating way too often, just like Fancy Widget and all the others I tried. For the record, I went back to 1.2 because I much prefer the contacts and music apps you used in that release over the 1.31 release. Oh, and did I see somewhere that you forgot some of the memory tweaks in 1.2? Would it be worth updating to 1.31 and pushing those apps back as a solution? No matter these minor annoyances, FLB mod is still awesome! Thanks.

Guest stealthstealer Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Quick question... Using the sd card that came with the pulse, what a2sd commands can I run to speed up phone/free up space. I think the card iss class 4, and the speed test app supports this. What would you recommend? (dalvik2sd/cache, cache2sd?) Thanks

So is this post about a mod of the FLB mod that has traditional Chinese localization by default? Am I even close to understanding it?
Guest Simon O Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 I have no idea either but it seems cool :D
Guest TaiwanCHT8k Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 I've set the default locale to zh-TW It speeds up Market remarkably here in Taiwan
Guest SoyaRice Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 When I am on FLB 1.3, it's a little bit slow to return to main page via ADW, but it ok on FLB1.0, does anybody know why is that?
Guest twrock Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 I've set the default locale to zh-TW It speeds up Market remarkably here in Taiwan Ok, that is something to seriously consider. Using FLB as-is, results in a very slow Market for me too. But I don't want Chinese localization (i.e. everything running in Chinese). Is that what you have running with this setting? Also, back when I was on a standard CHT8000 ROM, many market apps were missing. Is that true for you now? Can you find Graffiti by the ACCESS company (as an example)? I have only been able to find that app after moving to FLB.
Guest dobre Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Hi everybody I have one question. I use pulse flb-mob 1.0, android2.1. What will happen if i wipe dalvik-cache from amon ra recovery? I have only 8MB memory left and it is decreasing.

Guest dobre Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 That's wiping. You don't do that unless you plan on flashing another rom. Anyone suggest me what should i do about my memory. I have 8MB free and i cant install app which is 52KB. Example link

That's if you only wipe dalvik-cache and nothing else within amon-ra.

Example link You could try moving the Dalvik cache to SD. Open up the terminal emulator and type: su a2sd check (this will give you the status of A2SD on your system as it currently stands including Dalvik cache etc). a2sd cachesd (this will move the cache to your SD. You need a fast SD card though - at least Class 4). It might prompt for a reboot, I can't recall. Edited August 13, 2010 by Daz555

Guest ringer Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 (edited) Anyone find that Mail auto sync randomly stops working? I'm on FLB 1.2 I too am on FLB1.2 and have noticed this inconsistency, even on previous ROMs, possibly even on stock 1.5 too yes - sometimes all three services (mail, contacts, calendar) sync regularly, others they do not happen for up to 24 hours. I cannot figure out what sort of algorithm would be used for automatic sync (which I have turned on on all three services). If anyone can explain what would trigger (or stop) an auto-sync that would be most helpful. Edited August 13, 2010 by ringer

Guest gusthy Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Anyone find that Mail auto sync randomly stops working? I'm on FLB 1.2 yes. the mail sync is done.via gmail provider, and under low memory circumstances android kills it. this is one of the reasons I made my memory tweak, I prefer a given set of well-working functions than having lots of buggy features.

Guest T045Tbr0T Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Somethings wrong with ADW here. Everytime I start an app and close it/go back to the Homescreen, it looks like ADW is restarting or isn't in the cache anymore. First I just see the Wallpaper, then the buttons on the Button (But not with the Apps i put on it, but with "LAB" and "RAB"), then the right Buttons and the Shortcuts appear and then my widgets. This process takes approximately 10 seconds. Any help?
