hi , I've been upated to the flb-1.5adw. But there's a problem for Chinese, we need a input method for chinese characters, but when we intall some apk like "sougou input", we couldn't wake them up when edit message, only we could use is touchpal and android keypad.

See for yourself: :P

U8220

U8230

Basically the U8230 has 256MB of RAM (instead of the 192MB the U8220 has) and has a different look.

IIRC, they're pretty much the same :)

This custom ROM based on FLB 1.5 is made especially for Chinese users. Check it out :P

I've added this to the first page but I'll put it here also just in case anybody misses it:

Update regarding status of the ROM as of 10th September 2010

As FLB-Mod 1.5 is stable and almost all users are reporting no issues, work on FLB-Mod 1.x is suspended for the time being whilst I focus on the Froyo development. Once the work with the Froyo port has fixed the remaining bugs there will be a brand new branch of FLB-Mod from version 2 onwards which will be built on this work.

FLB-Mod 1.x will continue to be based on Android 2.1 and new versions will only be bug fixes. No new features will be added to FLB-Mod 1.x versions.

Please do not ask when FLB-Mod 2 will be released :P

Thank you. I've done my best to keep memory usage as low as possible. Most of the system apps have been optimized to reduce the memory footprint by removing HDPI and LDPI images, optimizing remaining PNGs and zipaligning the apk files. The only thing that can improve this more is to rebuild Android 2.1 from source completely but this is very difficult for me to do without a vendor configuration.

and well done, it's not 2.1 that was the turning point for my pulse - it was FLB. I downloaded it i think the day you uploaded it for personal use, wasn't sure whether i should go for this or Oscillation. its pretty clear there is no competition and i've never looked back. :P

on a side note, flashing the new ADW gives you 50mb free RAM on boot, but i think this is always the case when flashing new launchers.

good luck with froyoyoyo :(

ADW is getting better and better with each version and better optimized. It's a good choice for our phones.

Got my shiny U8220-6, and installed your ROM inmediatly, everything is fine and rocking, but looks like I got some issues with SMS messages, some of them get missing, so far 2 (that I know of) of 30+, in 3 days of using the ROM.

Maybe I did something wrong with the update? I used first the Venezuela ROM

That sounds about 'normal', I doubt it's because of anything you've done wrong. It's unlikely to be sorted unless TM UK actually come good and release a better version next month. That's why we need the 2.2 ROM sorting! :P

Agree, since we don't have the source code there's nothing else to do here. Once we have the source though it could only be one increment (1.6 for example) that includes swap and comcpache and that's it for FLB 1.x :(

I just wanted to say that you can remove the bit that says "this rom is a work in progress" from the first page now, you reached a more than stable release a while back :) Cheers!

As a noob I nerveously update to FLB 1.5 following the great guide. I am so impressed by it. I get a couple of forced closures on initial boot but other than that it is fast & stable. Thank you Fibblesan for the great work and here's looking forward to v2.

Cheers,

Sky.
