[ROM] FLB-Mod 1 (Based on Android 2.1)

Hi folks,

Newbie here so be gentle...

Have just upgraded to this mod (version 1.7) although started having lots of problems with the phone hanging and the animated android on a skateboard just showing.

No real trends to this but when I unmount the SD card it seemd to happen. Now I've lost access to all apps. None of them are showing them as installed although initilly they were running from the SD card (having enabled Apps2SD). I just get icons saying widget/app not available - this is for apps I've installed from the market as well as default apps such as the market itself.

The only thing I did above and beyond the 1.7 mod was to run the fix for the terminal emulator not running and then moved the appss2sd cache to the SD card.

Only other thing to note is that when I connected the phone to the PC and ran the windows recovery file I didn't get the writing boot/writing recovery message - instead the screen displayed a list of what I assume to be partitions with some numeric info. However, rebooting the phone with power, red buton and menu held down after removing the battery still allowed me to proress with the install.

Any suggestions as to how to resolve this welcome or I'll need to try to revert to the standard T-Mobile version.

I've got a great setup on flb1.6 but after a bit more performance. I'm currently using the 691mhz oc boot and would like to ask if we can have 710 and 768 boot as well like cm6 has. Any help would be great.

I'm still using flb-mod 1.6 as I find it more stable than 1.7, and id like to over clock it do you have a flashable kernel or a link to were I can get OC kernal that works with 1.6

FLB1.6 is great, I'm getting 4.6 on linpack. I've tried 1.7, froyo2.2, cm6 but all have the same performance with more bugs so I'll stick with 1.6 for now.

I'm pretty sure this is the OC Boot.img I flashed, enjoy!

Hi everybody,

I'm sick to death with the problems of this ROM, however this is the best so far :-)

At first I intsalled the official UK ROM, then amon ra recovery, then the flb 1.7 mod.

Here is the list of the failures:

-after boot up, a lot of programs start automatically, slowing the system. I use estrongs task manager to kill them after boot. When they (e-mail, calendar, settings, alarm, tune-in radio, opera mini, etc) are terminated, the phone is fast as it can be.

-there are many force closes mostly: core, phone, settings, launcher pro

-wifi and 3G are incompatible. Not allways, but many times the phone reboots, when they are both allowed.

-after more then an houre sleep time (when screeen is off) wifi is unavaiable however is is turned on. If I try to switch it off, the wifi frozes and I can't turn it on or off again only with restart the phone

If there is a much more proper way to descibe the failures than writing them down, please tell me, and I will post the results.

Last but not least, I'm gratefull for this rom and I wish to keep up the good work!

My advice is to ditch Launcher Pro. It results in an additional launcher process and consumes more of that rare resource in the Pulse - RAM. ADW (default on later FLB mods) does not have this problem as it is flashed to replace the default launcher and therefore consumes less resource.

I tried 1.7 but went back to 1.6b as I found it to be snappier and more stable.

Thanks, but it crashes on start. FLB mod 1.7OC.

Sorry, I didn't test it myself...

I can't do this at the moment, but you can always download FLB 1.6 and extract the zip. In /system/app there should be a GenieWidget.apk, install that on your phone.

the only thing I never ventured into is the apps2sd but find I will need to for copilot...so I bought an 8gb sd card and would like to know if anyone has a baby steps guide to installing apps2sd and setting the sizes of ram .... any help would really be appreciated as I have only messed with iphones and have only ever had flb roms from his first to his last..

2. Apps installing to system memory rather than sd card. Cured it by opening terminal and entering the following:

# su

# a2sd cachesd

Hope this helps someone. ...

Thank you :)

Well, to activate (not install, as it's already installed on FLB-Mod) A2SD you have to partition your SD card.

See the Ultimate Pulse Owner's Guide for instructions on how to do that.

First quick test: (timer start: 'boot vibrate', timer end: PIN input screen)

(FLB 1.7 OC, A2SD, swap on SD, Dalvik on SD > SanDisk 8GB CLASS2)

Without boot logo: 43s

With boot logo: 1:10s

Difference: 27s

Has anyone else tried that? It didn't work for me. My build.prop has neither "ro.kernel.android.bootanim" nor "debug.sf.nobootanimation" flags. It has "ro.config.hw_boot_animation" which I set to 0, but it didn't help. I've also tried deleting /system/media/bootanimation.zip but this only switches the phone from FLB boot animation to the default one. It would be also nice to get rid of boot sound.

Big fan of your work, been using FLB1.6 for a while now and its great.

I'm using the 691MHz OC boot.img you created and it works great, you posted that you would create faster OCs if they are stable, so...

Would you please create some more? Quite a few people are using 710 on cm6 fine and i think that upto 748 could be ok.

I am willing to test these OC boots before posting to everyone.

If you could create these OC boots, Me and the pulse community would be very greatful. 748, 729, and 710.

Many many many thanks

I like the frameworks of the stock android like they were in the cm6 0.40 beta.

Is there a way to get them for FLB 1.6 ?

Flashing the vanilla framework should also change the text highlights.

Does this mean that flib has given up the FLB Rom and it wont update it anymore ???
