Guest Simon O Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Fantastic job on all the roms you've produced so far and especiallly for keeping it updated so frequently. I have a small problem as in i am trying to flash flbmod_v1.0.zip or flbmod_v1.0lp.zip and they both give me an error message when trying to write the boot Writing BOOT :... E :Error finishing BOOT : E :Failure at line 378 : write_raw_image PACKAGE :boot.img BOOT : Installation aborted. Have you followed the instructions to the letter and installed the T-Mobile December update on your phone, then T-Mobile 2.1 update, Recovery, full wipe of the phone then install flb? If in any doubt check the guide at http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...e-owners-guide/
Guest Totyasrác Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 I have only used it to save / restore SMS history (the only thing I can't either sync from google, backup manually or re-download from the market) but restoring has failed on every 2.1 ROM I've ever tried. I figured it was down to the busybox version, but maybe it's also something to do with changing messaging system versions? I personally use SMS Backup & Restore, free in the Market - working perfectly. Shouldn't use TiBackup if the only purpose is SMS backup I guess (as shouldn't use a cannon if want to hunt down only a small bird either )

Guest nitko Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 @flibblesan - great job, I really like v1.0 - its fast and responsive. I could find any bugs so far. Little suggestion would be to try to find & integrate better gallery (with slide etc). BTW I am currently stuck with gmaps live wallpapers at full zoom - cant zoom out w/o multitouch  - but this isnt rom issue.
Guest Ellia Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 After I flashed my Pulse I saw no Astro in the menu. I installed it manually. Should it be build-in after flashing? What was my mistake? Can somebody please answer this question? Should there some apps automatically installed after flashing? For example Astro oder different Touchpal languages? For me there were no Astro or Touchpal languages (just English) installed. Neither I see them in the menu nor in the app management.
Guest Swiftes Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Gotta say, the latest release is, AMAZING. So fast, smooth and slick, love the espresso framework integrated too

Did you do a data and sd partition wipe before flashing? If you did everything correctly there is no way that those apps won't show, they are inisde the update zip.

Guest meinnit Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 I am still on MCR 1.7 (Android 1.5). I would like to upgrade to 2.1 but I've delayed it until a version as stable as 1.5 is released. From the comments I've read this appears to be the most stable so far. One question, when people say "it's fast", are they comparing it to 1.5 or other 2.1 ROMs? Would people say FLB v1 is faster than 1.5?
Guest Totyasrác Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) Flibblesan mate, what's the latest with the used kerner for the upcoming versions? Do you still think that Tre-kernel is the cause of the problems for many? As far as I see most of the FLB users experience serious improvement with your latest (v1.0) version compared to the beta ones... I guess it's only you who knows if this is because of the kernel only or any other magic you've added helped v1.0 to become the best ROM out there so far ;) I'd suggest a poll, something like this: Please only answer these if you are using any FLB-Mod ROM versions: 1. What version do you use? - beta3 - beta4 - beta5.1 - beta5.1update1 - v1.0 2. Are you experiencing any problems? - Yes (please answer the following questions) - No, this one kicks ass  (You're done, thanks :D ) 3. What do you have problems with? - GPS (goto Q4) - 3G (goto Q5) - Wifi (goto Q6) - blah-blah-blah (goto Qn) 4. What sort of problem are you experiencing w/GPS (if enabling/disabling A-GPS doesn't help!)? - being unable to turn on - won't find sats - resulting in FC in any nav prog - blah-blah-blah (goto Qn) 5. What sort of problem are you experiencing w/3G? 6. What sort of problem are you experiencing w/wifi? That's what I suggest... Most of the problems (concerning only Pulses and/or 8230 and/or 8220-6?) are resolved so far - either with correct wipe or some other stuff (like enabling/disabling A-GPS etc.) And then we'll see (or at least can guess) the directions to follow :D Hope you don't find this an offense :( (edited: typin' errors ) Edited July 16, 2010 by Totyasrác

Guest cbredfred Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Thank you for all the time and effort you put into improving our phones Flibblescan. Last night in a moment of nob-headedness I took my SD card out of my phone so that I could install a different SD card that was giving me stress and wouldn't format in Windows. So I went into settings and selected unmount SD card, which it did. I then inserted problem SD...when I selected format SD the phone froze! I had to pull the battery out. When the phone booted up it didn't have my normal SD card with ext2 partition and Dalvik Cache etc!!! So know when I select icons on the home page it says app not installed. Do I need to start all over again or is it possible to fix this? Any thoughts on what should or shouldn't be restored after a rom upgrade using Titanium Backup(TB)? I guess what I'm asking is could doing a complete restore using TB downgrade some of the improvements that a new version of FLB provides? Thank you all for any help/advice you can offer. Clive P.S. My Pulse had no problem formatting my problem SD card.

Guest vasillek Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Hi guys, i've got two small problems with flbmod: Wallpapers: first cosmetic issue - when changing wallpaper, the cropping process, when you mark part of image and set it - goes almost every time twice... Dont know why... ROOT: other problem is bit annoying, when i restore any nand recovery of flb since 5beta to 1.0 - LOST ROOT ACCESS... only solution ive found so far is to make nand recovery, and then flash zip flbmod 1.0 over it... is there any other way? Except these two glitches, one really unimportant, second bit unpleasant - flbmod 1.0 rulezzz!!!!

Guest darkly Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Tried installing this Rom on my already Modded Pulse last week, due to Co-Pilot screwing up yet again. I thought I'd take the plunge again. I won't say it went smoothly... it actually took about two days to get the damn thing working in a stable manner and several installations and reversions back, but now everything is tickety boo. Just thought I'd post this to let everyone know that this is a brilliant ROM, lightning fast on my Pulse and a 100% improvement on what I had before. I thought it might help people if you knew what I went through, in order to give those without hope, hope. I installed the Hungarian update which went smoothly and then this one which also went smoothly. I was very impressed and happy with the result and surprised when I realised that I was using a Framework and liking it. (I was previously happy with the T-Mobile interface.) The only problem I had was when I hooked up an exchange account. This basically kept FClosing and after a few times I figured I'd just use quick boot to do a factory reset. I then got locked into a boot loop which, owing to the fact that I was out and about, and owing to the fact that I completely forgot the key combination to go back into quick boot I was phoneless for around 4 hours. I finally got the Pulse up and running, although with lots of forced closures etc and once home started a whole process of re-installations during which I was sure I had bricked my phone several times. Eventually though all went fine and it still is. So basically, if anyone is teetering... go for it. It's definitely worth it and FLB-Mod is the way to go... in my opinion. I love all the work that people have been doing with the 2.1 ROMs. What I don't like is the amount of rubbish that T-Mobile/Huawei etc decided to put into the ROMs making our phones slower than they should be. So for the last few days I've been working on a vanilla ROM for my own personal use, but I'm uploading it for others to try and give feedback on. So here is FLB mod based on the Huawei 2.1 ROMs with a heck of a lot of changes and fixes. Before you do anything please read this guide. This ROM is a work in progress. Whilst it is stable on my U8220 Pulse, I cannot gurantee that it will be stable for you. Please test at your own risk and take care. The ROM does not change any hardware. Remember to backup your device from recovery with Nandroid then do a FULL Data wipe, Dalvik wipe and wipe ext2 if you have one. Please DO NOT use the options inside recovery related to A2SD. These only worked with an old version of A2SD and can seriously break your phone if you use these options with FLB-MOD Requirements: You must have updated your device using the T-Mobile Hungary 2.1 update first, with Amon-RA recovery installed second. FLB-Mod takes advantage of the new partition sizes as well as updated hardware firmware to function. It will not fit on 1.5 partition sizes. I have no plan to produce a version for 1.5 users. App changes: Replaced: Launcher.apk with ADW Launcher Replaced: Calculator.apk with stock 2.1 version Replaced: Calendar.apk with stock 2.1 version Replaced: Mms.apk with RMB2 version Replaced: Music.apk with Music Mod by Eliot Stocker (@eliotstocker) http://development.piratemedia.tv/ Added: Google Voice Search Added: ASTRO File Manager to /data Added: QuickBoot to /data Moved: Maps to /data Tweaks: Added Darktremor A2SD Rooted with Superuser 2.1 by ChainsDD Huawei UI customizations disabled Wi-Fi Suppliment Scan tweak Ring delay fix fix for "Continuing internet access will lead to traffic" Credits: Music Mod by Eliot Stocker (@eliotstocker) http://development.piratemedia.tv/ Other tweaks from this thread A2SD script by Darktremor You are totally allowed to make your own variation of this ROM. Feel free to tweak/customize/improve upon this ROM and release back to the community! If you like the MOD, donate
Guest bindi Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) I have just updated to FLB 1.0 with launcher pro from FLB beta 3. Update went smoothly with no errors at all. Overall everything is cool and great. However I am having FC on the apps I am not even using or working on like Titanium back/Sprite backup/Alarm and some other apps. I did the full wipe and dalvik cache wipe before this upgrade. Anyone else had this? One other thing when I reboot phone, I see the lock and sound buttons upside down rather than side by side in general which fix by itself in few seconds! Though I would mention here, not that it is a problem by anyway. Overall another great rom from FLB. Edited July 16, 2010 by bindi
Guest akho Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) The ROM works great. I have a question and an issue. Apologies if its been answered before, but I did google it ... 1.) why is the cache partition only 20MB (mtdblock3 in my case)? I can't remember what it was before I upgraded, but I'm wondering if the FLB ROM has any control over its size? I've seen some stuff online about how to resize mtdblocks but its a little fuzzy whether they are talking to people writing ROMs or people using ROMs. Me being the latter, I'm evaluating the pain vs gain of trying to resize said partition. 2.) In the stock ROM (2.1 hungarian version) the contact groups were available as different tabs under the contacts app. In the FLB ROM, to view the contacts in a group, you need to go to the display options, disable viewing all contacts, enable viewing a particular group. then if you want to see all contacts again, you need to undo this. This is quite annoying ... if there's a better way that I'm missing, please let me know. EDIT: Plus I can't find how to create a new group in contacts? Cheers Edited July 16, 2010 by akho
Guest Spoke Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Been running FLB 1.0 for several days now without a single problem, very happy with the performance and the look & feel. Looking forward to the next release. Thanks for all your hard work on this flibblesan.
Guest Letterbox115 Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 The FLB-mod V.1.0 is awesome! :D So much faster than Tre's ROM and the older FLBs ;) But in Beta 3, we had an fancy gallery app, that's replaced with the original app in V.1.0 :D Can we have the fancy one back?
Guest arlindo.costa Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 TMN has just released a new 2.1 ROM (U8230V100R001C75B828) http://www.tmn.pt/Portal%20Loja%20Virtual/...roid_eclair.zip
