Sorry about the question, but, what do you mean with this?.. there is actually a rom called that way or you are talking in a figurative way and you refer to a 1.5 updata.app (somebody knows where can I get one of this?).

Thanks again

It's just a nickname I think. It's on the Huawei website, I'll post a link once I find it.

I would really preciate it, 'cause nowadays I've a 2.1 custom rom but with old firmware (1.5) and it constatly reboots, force close and all that..

I really want to probe the hungarian 2.1 update, or at least apply it to upgrade firmware and partitions and then apply a custom 2.1 rom.. that's supposing I'll have no problems with 3G (hope so...)

Another thought.. I'm thinking to myself.. "if I apply the hungarian update (wich changes my firmware, and could eventually give me problems with the 3G band cause I'm in Latin America) and something screws up.. so I have to roll back, get a 1.5 updata.app (uk one, because there isn't one for latin america in the huaweidevice site) I will end up in the same problem with 3G.." Wouldn't I ?..

This is exactly the reason why we have to think through whether of not we can actually make use of this tool. Not asking for clarification and not understanding can get people in a lot of trouble.

So even though some people might get irritated because they think the questions are stupid :) , it might actually be that there is a very good reason to ask those questions. Not everyone's situation is the same.

In order for 1.5 to work on my phone, I must have the original CHT8000 boot.img, not the boot.img for some other U8220.

So, sure, if I had the original CHT8000 rom in an updata format, I wouldn't hesitate to try out the different 2.1 rom's.

I also had found that file on their website. It is not the "original", but it should be even better, because it is supposed to be an update (to build 251). Unfortunately I had tried to install this update previously and it failed every time. I already attempted to get help from Huawei to get this update to work, but they have not replied.

Thanks for looking for it.

Edit: But if somehow I completely mess up my phone, I would "guess" that I can use a combination of this "time machine" and the B251 update to get back to a working system. But since I don't yet have that guarantee, I think I'll just keep waiting for Huawei to release the official 2.1 rom for the CHT. According to the latest info I saw, that should happen some time in July. Hey, I've waited this long; what's another month?!!! :)

Just tried this to downgrade my Pulse from 2.1 to 1.5. Works perfectly. Flashed the DecemberUpdate and then superboot, amonra and restored my nandroid backup :)

1. Install the "Time Machine" UPDATA.APP

2. Install the December Update UPDATA.APP

3. Install Amon-Ra recovery

4. Wipe just in case. (Probably not needed...)

5. Nandroid restore

6. ????

7. PROFIT!! :D :)

Could someone post where I can find the "Time Machine" UPDATA.APP for the T-Mobile Pulse? and clarify that Dan's tutorial works :D

As I'm on 2.1 but have had enough of the reboots etc..

Thanks!

Edit- just found http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...e/#entry1318838

thanks in advance,

P

Search the forum, it's an updata.app, you install it just like any other update.

FYI out there..

Found a working link for the time machine image (updata.app). You can get it here:

http://u8220.blogspot.com/2010/12/actualiz...android-15.html

(its the 4th link down)

Great instructions here in spanish to getting 3G workin on 2.1 ROM on Huawei U8220-6 (works fine on Movistar 3G in Ecuador). Just make sure to 'Finish' the Android startup wizard and reboot with data services enabled, Then search and register on your desired carrier for 3G to work (in my case Movistar 3G). Hope this helps. Can finally use my new phone and migrate off blackberry!

Skype also working over 3g on Movistar btw. Search in google for "readwriteweb skype-over-3g" to get unlocked skype.apk that works over 3g. Happy days..

also thanks a lot Sh4d0w940,

Peter
