Guest Koh KW Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) First of all, this is my very first post in this forum of Paul. I'd like to extend my deepest gratitude and appreciation to Paul & his team (or whoever who had contributed) on their work. I'm a HTC Desire (T-Mobile branded) device owner from Malaysia. Used the riskfreeroot method (successful - of course with a few bumps here and there but eventually sorted out. Panicked in between ;-)), and subsequently installed the Froyo FRF50 r17 ROM using fake-flash. Been using it for almost 2 days now and below are some of the feedback I have: Things *not* workingLED misbehaves sometimes the orange light doesn't go off even I don't have anything going on. After a while it goes away by itself.Camcoder doesn't work, which is a known problemBattery seems getting drained faster than MCR 3.1, but I can't be very sure yet maybe I was playing around with it too much. On standby mode it is definitely ok with 1-2% utilization every hour (that's with 5 Google Accounts sync on).Ok, this is my biggest issue. The auto-brightness. When set to Auto it doesn't look as bright as MCR 3.1/stock HTC 2.1 which is what I'm used to. Maybe Paul can give a bit of an insight if this is really an issue or it is my configuration that's not right.Things working *wonderfully*Very fast! Installed ADW launcher and the experience of the home screens are even better than HTC's Sense UI.The apps on 2.2 such as Gmail (improved), etc are fantastic! The absence of HTC Sense UI is a blessing. Feels much lighter now.Stable - so far. I have no reboots whatsoever. FYI I did a complete wipe prior to flashing it with this ROM. The first time I did it I didn't have the "Phone" application, and a bunch of other weird issues. A wipe took care of it.That is all for now! Can't wait for the next update. My biggest concern is still functionalities not working yet (like the Camcoder, and the imperfect auto-brightness). Edited June 21, 2010 by Koh KW
Guest Koh KW Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 I tried this ROM for 4 days, in the end I went back to MCR 3.1 for three reasons... 1. Scrolling (particularly in the web browser) does not seem smooth at all, it's very juddery 2. Automatic screen brightness is not good - it often does not adjust to bright sunlight and I can't see a thing 3. Battery usage is worse ( a lot ) than in 2.1 Fix these issues and I'm there all the way ;) Andy Try xScopelite browser. It works well for me and it feels light weight. Running fine with it on this ROM and I'm using it as my default browser. Am having the same brightness issue as well. Can still live with it. Battery usage is not as great too, but I have a charger with me all the time so that's mitigated a bit ;-)

Guest TSpark Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 How can I make flash work? When using browser it says a plugin is missing. Look at the Market. It's an App.
Guest mr. winterbottom Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Hi, is the r18 available??? mr. winterbottom
Guest medomedo Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Hi all, @Paul: I can see update in the change log (r18) but all the links and the kitchen still produce r17. Am I missing something here? @Koh KW: what is ADW launcher. Is it known the reason why the battery drains quickly?
Guest mr. winterbottom Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 yes, i've baked a new ROM is still the r17 version :-( mr. winterbottom
Guest Kevin La. Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Is the kitchen working properly ? I'm unable to generate a room without WaveSecure. I unchecked it many times and I still get it installed :/ How to remove it manually ? And, where is Spare Parts ? I cannot find it ;) Are these problems about the kitchen fixed ?
Guest DigitalC Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Id assume that R18 is still uploading - normally takes a bit of time. Keep an eye on Pauls twitter page @paulobrien
Guest Paul Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 r18 (FRF72) now online in the kitchen, prebakes to follow soon! P
Guest defectivereject Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 r18 (FRF72) now online in the kitchen, prebakes to follow soon! P I'm guessing it needs a wipe? And what does FRF72 bring over frf50?
Guest squrl Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) Are these problems about the kitchen fixed ? If you want to manually delete WaveSecure, just unpack your cooked ROM and delete system\com.wsandroid.apk. Then repack it and if you are using a recovery that can flash unsigned ZIPs (like ClockworkMOD), you can flash it right away. If your recovery can only flash signed ZIPs, you have to manually resign your your modified ROM, there are many tutorials how to do that, just search this very forum, or XDA ;) Edited June 21, 2010 by squrl
Guest masi0 Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Great job Paul ;) just downloading from online kitchen :( will flash on the afternoon. Any chance to find a solution for battery drain?
