how did you set the backlight? ;)

I've set mine to auto and I can see fairly good out in the open...

It's just downside of amoled screens: the picture is sharp and beautiful in darker environment but barely visible in the sun. (assuming you have no problems with automatic backlight settings)

go to settings..general settings.power, batterypower, click turn on backlight,,,,i have no problems reading ,typing at the beach!lol,,,when im done i just turn off the screen

Can you actually use your Omnia II without the backlight on? I can barely see anything in sunlight. Even when I try to shield the sunlight with my hand it's barely visible.

lol noooooo,,,but is ok,,,just use backlight,,sure it takes more batt,life..but its alllgooooooood !! cause i hope to be getting galaxy s ,,when available from telus ;)

As I already stated, Omnia II is unusable with backlight off(except maybe in the dark), so bcklight is ALWAYS on. But still I can't see anything with sunlight. I love the phone, but hate the screen.

are you sure there's nothing wrong with your specific device? ;)

I mean... I can use it in the sunlight no problem, I can even see it better than all my previous devices... (of course with backlight on... I've never had a smartphone, amoled or not, which was visible in the sunlight with no backlight at all)
