Good news: A guy is working on getting Amon Ra's Recovery image into the Unrevoked Recovery Flash Process, he just needs their green light!

Please look at the XDA Thread

Edit

Fake flash should already work, permanent flash is being worked on.

Okay its now possible to flash custom Recovery thx Unrevoked v2.1.

Here is the Uploaded Version with AmonRa's Recovery Image for Desire!

Start Terminal

cd to the Reflash directory

run sudo ./reflash

On the Reflash screen choose File - Custom Recovery and open

Plug in USB Cable into your phone while Android is running with Usb debug!

Wait for it to finish and enjoy

All thanks go to Unrevoked and AmonRa

AmonRa's recovery is a little better than Clockwork mod, it provides the options to fix APK UID mismatches (fix_permissions) and to repair EXT filesystems, which clockwork lacks. It's great that this functionality has been added to unrEVOked.

Hi,

I've run into a problem using 2.1 unrevoked.

It keeps locking up at random points in the recovery process. I've already used unrevoked once and i already have a permanent recovery (the clockwork one), but i want to put a custom one in there.

I've tried both the USB ports on the front and on the back, same difference.

It hangs at either of these three points:

* waiting for usb

* acquiring root

* pushing recovery image

it seems to be doing nothing at all anymore at that point, i can wait as long as i want, neither my phone nor the unrevoked tool give any response. I've tried it with two different 2.2 sense roms, the Modaco one and the ahmgsk one.

As soon as i disconnect i get a communication error in the unrevoked tool, says its aborting, but it stays on aborting as well.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix?

many thanks,

Amber Talamasca

Use the Linux Version, the Windows version used to make trouble!

I did it three times and had no trouble under Linux!

With the Windows version I manged to kill the stock recovery!

I totally agree with you, it's a big step in the Desire development that we can now permanently flash AmonRA recovery (rather than ClockworkMod recovery) using the UnrEVOked2.1 hack.

Especially as with ClockworkMod you cannot partition the sdcard and it seems you can't mount/wipe/backup/restore ext2 partitions either...

Oh, and one more thing I noticed...

Even if you permanently flashed AmonRa and you still want to use koush's ClockworkMod recovery, you can simply launch flashing it like an update.zip from AmonRA's menus. :D

A temporary session of the koush's fine recovery will take place and you could use it properly. :)

This procedure was very buggy in the vice-verse situation (ClockworkMod permanent and AmonRa temporary or with usb-pushed recoveries).

I actually thought this is so f..g great that it would deserve for this post to get pinned. But somehow it seems to be not so interesting. Is fake-flash lobbying this place ? :(
