This works for all files that are stored in /system/media.

But changing this could be done with very little effort ;)

Best regads,

BigBear

Crap... Just started to have problems with android commander. It won't sign my files... It creates the signed_file.zip but it has 0 bytes. Great timing!

What am I doing wrong? Tried copying .rar file to my SD card both as it is and extracted contents.

Downloaded bootanimation.zip file to SD card and each time I try and run the zip file from phones start menu I get

:

Install from sdcard........

Finding update package......

Opening update package...........

E:Can't open /sdcard/bootanimation.zip

(bad)

Inastallation aborted

Any help much appreciated..............

Yap that zip file only contains the bootanimation ;)

You need to flash this manually using adb, or you have to use my little app to pack it into an update.zip.

If you use my app you'll have to sign the update.zip afterwards.

Best regards,

BigBear

Open BigBear's tool. Open your bootanimation.zip with the tool and it automaticaly generates update.zip. You just have to sign it. And then copy to your SD card and flash from recovery

Sorry guys but this is now beyond me. Just needed and update zip to change the animation. I can't get ADB working, not technical and only have a crappy linux netbook.

Looks like will have to put up what I have.

Thanks,

Dave

Yay that should work for ypur purpose.

My tool packs the bootanimation into an update.zip, which you can then flash using the recovery mode.

Just like an usual update.

But make a anadroid backup first, I didn't test this on my own yet!

If you give the bootanimation you want to flash I'll pack it for you and upload it again ;)

Heres the update.zip ;)

BTW seems like my app has an error, tha's why it fails to sign :)

But you can unzip and rezip it manually, and it will work :(

I extracted the files out of the zip generated by BigBear's tool, and re-zipped them (store) and signed them. It worked only when I rezipped it. When I tried the generated file, the signed file had 0 bytes.

Anyways, again with the "syntax error in update script"...

Something is wrong with the update-script... and with not being able to sign the files ;)

Unzipped the file in Linux. Re-zipped it and did not work. Have no idea how I "sign" a file though, so again I am stuck......

You have to set the compression option to STORE, maybe that's your problem

I can sign then, but the update-script is messed up anyways

Go through the forum... There is an app called Android Commander... It's a ADB with a nice graphic user interface, so it's much easier... I don't know how to use adb myself, but android commander is great

I only get option to compress and a list of file extensions. After doing this I get an error saying no signature........

God I hate Linux at the moment. Great for surfing but I am so lost with all this...........

Are either of you able to upload a signed working zip file?

;) :(

I will have a look at that shortly :(
