Hi everyone,

I just upgraded from the Omnia to the Omnia2-i8000(winmo6.1). While I appreciate the larger screen, amoled, etc., I am EXTREMELY disappointed with how slow the camera is. The camera on the Omnia is blazingly fast. I take a picture, get the review screen right away, and upon leaving the review screen get teh camera screen right away. With the i8000 it takes about TWO SECONDS to go from screen to screen, which is ridiculous. Is there any way to fix/tweak things for the camera to make it faster/more responsive? I'm seriously considering going back to my original Omnia if not...

Thanks in advance!

Feivi

are you running anything in background? my O2 runs the camera just as fast as O1. The review function on O2 is also much better as it has got the zoom function, on O1 I can't tell from the small fit-to-screen view whether the photo is in focus.

No, nothing running in the background. Another thing I noticed is that O1 has a wider lens; I get much more into the picture. But I could get over that if not for the speed problem. What OS/rom are you running? Could upgrading from 6.1 to 6.5 help with this?

TIA!

I just tested, the O2 and O1 lens should be just about the same focal len, so you should not see that O1 has a wider lens. Did you default the O2 to some digital zoom by default? try the volume buttons, that's the digital zoom function, never use them..... put it at zero zoom, the digital zoom is useless in any camera unless you don't have any photo editing software.

I never noticed any problem with the camera on either 6.1 or 6.5 roms. Currently, I'm on Wm6.5 lite rom JC2, if that matters.

No zoom used. I'll try to upload some pictures later to show the difference.

When going from the review back to the regular camera view, your screen doesnt go black for a few seconds?

In addition, I just noticed that the i8000 cam has less options that the Omnia one did. There are only 4 resolutions compared to the O1 6 resolutions, and only 6 effects compared to O1's 13 effects. What the heck is wrong with Samsung with giving us a WORSE camera for a phone UPGRADE???

I'm wondering if there's any way to port the camera app from the O1 to the O2...

My O1 or O2 camera doesn't go blank for a few seconds after review of photo. Also, those modes and resolutions are quite useless. I always take photo in the highest resolution and add effect afterwards if needed. The processing in the camera software is always inferior to photo editing software on PC. I even don't use the modes most of the time, I only use modes such as night scenes because there is no other way to control the shutter speed.
