when i type mount -o remount,rw /system :

usage : mount [-r] [-w] [-o options] [t -type] device directory

Same here..

See:

cat /proc/mounts

And write the remount command with device and mount directory like:

mount -o remount,rw device directory

than step by step

cd /system

mkdir csc

cd /system/csc

mkdir SER

cd /system/csc/SER

mkdir system

chmod 755 /system/csc/SER

chmod 755 /system/csc/SER/system

You can also check it step by step, the directory exists now.

Maybe the Busybox or something else is incombatibe, but this has worked for me.

You know of anyone who owns it yet and is able to test it?

I do, but very hesitant to be the guinea pig and brick my new toy :)

How safe is it?

It's not safe until someone tests it and says so. :D

Be patient.

Actually, the problem is a lot simpler to fix. The problem is just that
/system/csc/SER/system
doesn't exist. The following method will work for any firmware release, no need to downgrade. To fix it:
adb shell

su

mkdir -p /system/csc/SER/system

chmod -R 755 /system/csc/SER

exit

exit

adb reboot recovery

And watch the copy action not failing anymore :-)

This is basically something that should be fixed in the firmware images, the directory structure that is needed is simply missing. This can be fixed by creating the structure in CODE_XXXX.tar

JFF addressed this issue.

I have noticed since moving to jg1 that I am losing the camera. This is the second time its happened. I rebooted my phone today after having using the camera all day.. when it rebooted I went to use the camera and I simply get "camera failed" and it exits. Anyone else seen this?

update: hmmm cant get into camera at all now, just fails each launch... definitely either something wrong with jg1 or the marketjf5 fix

yeah its definitely connected with having gps on... manage to get gps turned off, never an issue, turn gps on.. and camera fails regularly to launch...

Yes, I am seeing the same thing. I had been running JG1 w/root no problems for a week. I installed Sera's JIT ROM this morning and the camera started behaving exactly as you're describing, right down to GPS seeming to be the culprit. I thought it was the JIT, so I just now flashed MCR2 from Paul and same camera issue. I have ran no scripts or anything.

I have no ideas sorry. I know that the wiping causes many issues that is why I asked....

I have my own weird issues with the camera and gps...

seems there are some issues with either the jg1 or r2....

I wiped cache only before flashing the update.zip to MCR2. That's a bad thing? LOL. Seems like a good thing in Nexus One and Cyanogen land.

I would say the issue is with MCR2, not JG1, just based on the fact that JG1 had no camera crashing due to GPS problems for a week for me, and then once I install MCR2 based ROMS, camera failure errors on startup.

Seems like an isolated issue I guess. On R2 right now and the camera apps works fine together with GPS.

Do you have fring installed? I found many people complaining about the camera failing and fring was apparently to blame.. after uninstalling fring my camera is working again... but then again im flashing several times per day now so have no idea what is causing what....

I think all the firmwares etc so far are certainly not bug free

+1 on the not bug free comment. ;-)

Yes, I do have Fring installed. I'll try uninstalling it if the issue arises again (sure it will). I just started the camera and it worked, but GPS is turned off and I'm off a fresh boot. Thanks for the tip.

Just a couple of questions, hope that some one can enlighten me :D

The site paul mentioned http://samsung-firmware.webs.com/WEBPROTECT-samsungi9000.htm, can I follow their guide and flash any i9000 ? " Of course I choose the right region"

When I flash, will the language change in the phones menu's and will it then not be possible to get the native language back ?

The firmwares on that site is it stock ?

What is the best os to flash under, xp or win7 ? Yes I know that linux is probably the best but I haven't worked with a linux system since 98 and my hard drive is filling up fast

the language might change yes but it will change back based on your simcard.

they are stock but not official (leaked)

I'd go with XP if you have it.

I think the answer is that I need to use Odin to reflash JG1, then apply Pauls MCR 2 fresh, but thought I'd post that my MCR install is really unstable. Program after program crashing (no force close) just closing and dumping me back to the desktop. Black screens and the like.

I had been stock JG1 with root update applied only without problems for a week, then tried the JIT MCR2 yesterday. Way too unstable for me, so I thought I'd try MCR2. I thought I'd get away with just flashing it from recovery over what I had, but it's got issues it didn't have when on stock JG1.

I know the black screens and lags have a couple of fixes available, but I was wondering if the apps crashing as described above is part of that issue or something new that might be left over from JIT problems I had.

I want to use Mimocan's lag fix kernel which means I need to bust out an XP machine to use Odin anyways.

You need the different PIT file, the one that creates a bigger dbdata directory.

It has been posted in some of the threads... cant remember which ones.. then choose repartition in odin

Thanks. Will try to find it.

EDIT: Found it on xda-developers forum. It's the 512 version that works.

First of all, hi to everyone, I'm new to this wonderful forum... and a proud owner of a Galaxy S.

I installed R2 firmware successfully. I wish to know, from Paul or other good people, how to uninstall Wavesecure app, since I'm using two sim on my phone, swapping from time to time, and don't want to have alerts every time my sim is changed.

Since this app was cooked as a system app I really don't know how to find it and uninstall.

Please give me some hints! :D

Delete its apk with RootExplorer.

Thanks. I've Astro file manager but it says that file is not erasable. I need to buy RootExplorer to set permissions to delete it?

Or that is another way to do it?
