Guest mokkimhong Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Hi, i am just wondering, anyone notice this or not.... my wife is using Iphone 3GS, and of course i am using Omnia2 :D sometime before we go to bed(light turned off.... :) ), we will do a little bit of phone setting(Eg. alarm, check calendar, etc) but always, Omnia2 looks very very bright in dark.... it is so bright until my eyes pain... but compared with Iphone, its brightness in dark makes my eyes comformatable... i guess the main problem is that even in totally dark condition, Omnia2 does not turn off backlight. Omnia2 have AMOLED, no need backlight in dark~~~ anyone knows any fix that , with Auto brightness adjustment, Omnia2 backlight will auto turn off when in dark? :D thanks.

Guest freeall Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 (edited) yes the backlight's not turned off even in the pitch dark.previous roms allow you do that, but it seems the newest rom does not have the option any more .a small change to the registry is required to switch off backlight. ok,here is the one that do the job.it give you phone a 3-mode brightness adjustment, namely, switch off, auto adjust and max brightness. you have to install mortscript first. hope it works for you this handy app is credited to GunnarKarlsson http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=p...amp;action=viewSBacklightToggle.zip Edited July 2, 2010 by freeall

Guest sinancetinkaya Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 You can't turn backlight off because there is no backlight  This is amoled which doesn't use a background light source. Turning backlight completely off is equal to switching the screen off

Guest sinancetinkaya Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 OLEDs have certain advantages over traditional liquid crystal displays (LCDs). OLED displays do not require a backlight to function. Thus, they can display deep black levels and can be thinner and lighter than LCD panels. OLED displays also naturally achieve higher contrast ratios than either LCD screens using cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) or the more recently developed LED backlights in conditions of low ambient light such as dark http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organic_LED
Guest szanka Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 this is "AMO LED" and not "AM OLED" , this display requires backlight

Guest lastnikita Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 well "do not require" does not mean "can't use", I'm sure even you can tell the difference between an idle and active phone display  Maybe it's just decreasing its lighting to a lower level, whatever word you use for this, that's what he wants.
Guest mokkimhong Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 btw, back to the topic... any better idea how to "auto" turn off backlight under extreme dark environment?
