Agreed, come December I'm going to be selling my Acer and buying an iPhone 4 or hopefully a more powerful Nexus phone or an HTC android device.

You people make me laugh, really !! Can you stop whinning for a minute and acting like spoiled kids ? You bought a phone, it works, does plenty of new stuff that we couldn't imagine possible a few years ago. The system even allows us to heavely customize it => what's wrong ? You don't have you're precious little official update right now, oooooooooh this is terrible, you should file a complaint, or try a class action :)

So YES, Acer's support is a piece of s***, and personnally, regarding how they support their selled product (Without speaking about the poor quality of phone...), I won't buy Acer anymore.

The problem isn't getting 2.1 or not, it's that Acer ANNOUCED 2.1 available for the beginning of march, and in July we still don't have it...

Personnaly, I bought this phone because it was annouced with 2.1, otherwise I wouldn't had bought it (And would have waited for the desire to become a little cheaper), as I need some features of 2.1 like Exchange sync.

So, it's not about crying or anything else, we have custom roms that work pretty well, but I would prefer an official update, at least to see if there was anything improved with an OFFICIAL bin (ie, not leaked)

I knew more or less what I was getting into when I bought my phone (looked around the net, pictures, forums, flaws, etc...). As for the 2.1 update, I too bought it thinking the official would come out in march or something like that, but it didn't, and you know what ? I've still been very happy with it, even more now that I can overclock Eclair :)

From my point of view, what you're doing now is just whinning for whinning (maybe you really like the sound of your fingers typing on your keyboard :D )

lol first of all, I can say whatever I want, considering I'm not impolite. How is saying that Acer is sh... not flamming ? I'm usely not a big fan of huge corporations, but come on that's a bit "light" ! And if people want a stock update they can use the 1.100.05.bin, or even the 1.6 versions which are really good too ! I just really think this kind of behavior childish, not talking about what's being asked for, but how it's discussed...

I have to say one thing... In the last few days, the Australian website has started including the "Liquid E" phone to the smart handhelds sections of the drivers and downloads sections... All be it that there is no OS to download under the Download tab, it shows that there has been a change to the listing... Will keep an eye out for the next few days and see what happens. It does have the source code listed for 2.1 Liquid E @ 90meg dowload. Means nothing to me, but might be useful to someone...

I gave up holding my breath in march for the 2.1 release.

Even with the LCR i am running, its still supper buggy and annoying. I would like to go back to a standard ROM and see if things improve.

Some people are impatient to get this update, I can understand that, but it seems that you can't.

Hopefully all people don't think like you, otherwise, like tc4101 well said, we would still be sticked to Win95, and Android 1.0. (If nobody cares about an update and don't want it, why spending time & money by doing it ? )

I assume, as we can now have a "FULLY" working BIN, and even customize it, you don't care about Froyo.

I was excited by this phone but all I said is that Acer's aftersales is not up to the standard I expect, which is why I would consider really only an HTC or Iphone 4 for my next phone, maybe a new Nexus if they just upgrade the specs. I think it's terrible service to say an update in March and not deliver then not communicate with your customers. I'm not angry, I gave Acer a shot, they didn't live up to my expectations, other companies have with their updates, I'll be buying their products in the future. Simple :-)

To be fair, they are not the only ones.

HTC with the Hero was on Cupcake forever despite constant promises of updates.

Samsung with the Behold 2 promised 2.0 last October, recently got an update to 1.6 and now they said they won't go any further.

There won't be a Nexus Two. And while it is constantly updated, Acer Liquid is not that big a step down (not $200 step down).

What are you basing this on? Have you seen the polish on all the iPhones? I've never seen it lag ever while my Liquid lags occasionally and know the iP4 has sick hardware there's nothing holding me back from it. The previous iP's got pwned by other phone's hardware wise, but the iP4 is insanely good.

Never be a Nexus 2 or a follow-up (of any kind) by December 2010 or Ever?

Good point on the HTC Hero, it's out now though isn't it? I don't know when HTC officially said it's getting an update, would be interested to know the timeframe between announcing it and it being delivered.

Iphone? No lag? You gotta be kidding me!

Maybe Iphone 4, because I never tried this one. But when I used the 3GS it had some little lags, but yeah it didn't lag much, don't know how Multitasking affects this. The Edge and 3G were laggy as hell, but it's understandable since they have weaker hardware.

My Liquid has mini lags, but they're not frequent. It's almost at the same level as 3GS on 3.X firmware.

Coming back to the update, I have only 1 thing to say that I said on another 2.1 official rom thread:

I would like, as every body here, to see a new release from coming from Acer, for a more stable system, that will proove that Acer cares about their consumer and want to keep people in "touch", but i don't think they will do, cause Acer don't win money by working on "old" device (many hours of developping) so they should be working on new devices where incomes are sure. btw we have a real nice bin which provide most of features wanted from a smatphone, no comparison to do with 1.6, I can continue using 1.1005 for a long moment till buying new device (not from Acer this time but with Android oc) so let's be patient and wait & see :)

Most people like it, some people don't, I am in the latter.

My sister has an iPhone3G and I have used it a couple of times, came away unimpressed:

-The interface is boring. Just a bunch of 4x4 grids and a dock.

-I hate how restricted the app store is (no Google Voice, no Google Navigation, no Swype, no free tethering apps, no Adobe Flash).

-I hate how closed the company is (in the past, they did release an update which bricked jailbroken phones. And the newest iOS4 allows your network to randomly collect data on your baseband and if they find out it is jailbroken, send a mandatory update which loses jailbreak).

-Not much customization (no widgets, can't change icons). They are in the process of removing an app for the iPad because it has a picture frame which looks like a widget ( http://www.macworld.com/article/151680/201..._rejection.html )

-Not real multitasking (does not work across all apps)

My mic/WiFi work. Only bug I have is the switching between 2G and 3G.

1.000.05EMEA is an official bin, people have been sending their phones in for repair and some have been returned with Acer installing that firmware onto it.
