Guest crewone Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 It seems to me that the very last R4 WIP (including new radio) suffers from the battery issue that occured in the very first R4, but not in the R4 versions in between. I explain myself: I fully charged the battery up to 100%, but when I unplugged the phone the battery indicator felt directly down to 94% Whatever it is, it isn't the new radio. I just flashed the new radio and fully charged the phone, took it from the charger and now it is at 100%
Guest gandalfmuaddib Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Found a error or bug. But I am not sure if it is my phone problem or the Rom problem, My calendar is sync with Facebook friends birthday. I realise that lots of my friend birthday is 1 day earlier than what they enter in their profile. I doubled check with them, they say they enter the right date. Did a full wipe, and re update again, same problem still arise, some even have 3 entry of a same person for their birthday. Anyone having same problem? This has already been raised a few pages back. As far as I can tell, it is a bug in HTC's widget. Still cannot find a way to reliably reproduce this bug though, it occurs somewhat randomly. Does it happen on yours with the stock Android widget?
Guest ErwinV Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Messaging installed to /system partition * This option includes the standard Android Messaging application (this REPLACES with the HTC version). This is working correctly. However when I create a backup with SMS Backup & Restore and try to restore it all goes south. Errors while restoring (null pointer) and corrupting the messaging app.
Guest Ceased2be Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Just flashed the latest... only have 1 error so far the BGP process gives an error with each application I start. I can forceclose it and it doesn't come back after that...

Guest Ceased2be Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Did you remove the HTC Weather app from the bake? Yup, figured since I wasn't using any of the HTC apps (or Sense for that matter) the Weather app could go. Maybe I'll create a new bake to fix this
Guest ErwinV Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 The Weather app is needed even without Sense, else you get that error .
Guest Nephisto Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Maybe it's a stupid question but I'm gonna ask it anyway. Why did I get stock msg app and not the htc one after I flashed? because I chose the stock lock screen?
Guest DigitalC Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Hi Paul, this rom sounds awesome. Any chance to have the choice of replacing the HTC browser with the stock/AOSC one ? I really don't like the way the HTC browser hide the top of the webpage with the adress bar while loading. +1 I much prefer the Android stock web browser
Guest EddyOS Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) Did you choose the stock msg app in the kitchen? If so then that's why, otherwise you should have the HTC one (I have using the stock lockscreen) Edited July 16, 2010 by EddyOS
Guest qvadro Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 I much prefer the Android stock web browser I also
Guest HearThatVoiceAgain Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Just popping in to say I finally did what everyone here should do, I signed up for a premium account. Not just to get this ROM (installed the 15/07 refresh last night, no issues to report) but also to repay Paul a little for the amazing work he does here.
Guest Ceased2be Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 The Weather app is needed even without Sense, else you get that error . baked a new rom, included the weather app and the error is gone indeed. stupid stupid weather app! :D

However, I wanted to get the ROM too
Guest grorel Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Hi all, I've cooked a rom with the geniewidget but the weather cannot be loaded. it tells me "weather not yet available" (<= this is translated from french) or "No location". By the way, the HTC weather app works fine. anyone has an idea?
Guest paeaeppae Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) Paul, I'm not sure if you tweaked the ROM in any way in terms of battery performance, but this ROM has been giving me the best battery life thus far. Even my non-rooted phone did not give such good speeds. The phone stays on full for a good 15-20 minutes; longer if the screen is off. Usually my battery life dropped like 5% from full within a few minutes. I'm not doing anything differently but this ROM kicks ass in terms of battery life. Great job! Hmmm...I don't know. I think this newest r4 WIP refresh is draining my battery a lot more. The version just before this newest has been the best so far. Running Juice Defender with the screen off - it was still 100% after a couple of hours! Still a great ROM though Paul - you're a legend! Edited July 16, 2010 by paeaeppae
Guest mmorselli Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 I use the newest, GPS not working. The versions before (including the very first) GPS worked. Seems that GPS Icon on status bar appears only when application (like Google Maps) use it. May be my memory fault, but I remember that in previous roms the GPS icon was allways on status bar, if GPS enabled. anyway, I wiped "HTC Localization Sevice" data and reboot, using Titanium Backup, but I don't think if this helps

I agree. The previous refresh was much easier on the battery. Something been changed in yesterday and its draining around 1.5 times as fast

Guest Blackfish79 Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 i think it's the same problem like me. check settings->phone info->battery ...the phone don't go to standby anymore
Guest tr0ca Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Yes you can open the zip file and go to system/apps And remove the HtcLockscreen.apk and .odex Then reflash, but disable signature check in clockworkmod. Remember to always have a Nandroid Backup when screwing around this way and don't go crazy. REALLY make one. You can also read the thread to find the ADB instructions on how to remove these without flashing. Most beginners mistakes with the ADb method are not using correct capitols (I made this mistake myself) Check out Klutsh's Modded Rom made from this Kitchen without HTC Additions if you don't want to go in there yourself. http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...e-to-read-more/ Will this also remove the HTC dialer ?
Guest paeaeppae Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 i think it's the same problem like me. check settings->phone info->battery ...the phone don't go to standby anymore I'm contemplating flashing back to that previous ROM. Can you flash down a version without wiping?
Guest Blackfish79 Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 I'm contemplating flashing back to that previous ROM. Can you flash down a version without wiping? for tesing i have flashed the version from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726300 (without wipe) and it looks ok. (running time: 28min. active time 7min.) in the r4 refresh ist running time and active time ever the same and the battery drops very fast.
Guest jamlam Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 +1 Last R4 refresh installed yesterday 17pm approx. -> 30-40% felt @ 23pm -> phone was off when I woked up @ 6am I'm finding the battery life on the new version to be much better than r3.1, my phone was fully charged yesterday at about 4pm, I'm at about 90% battery now (11am the next day), with a couple of calls made and some browsing. I would have lost about 25% battery by now on the old ROM.
Guest DiscoHero Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 i think it's the same problem like me. check settings->phone info->battery ...the phone don't go to standby anymore Hmm, my standby and idle times are the same with the latest ROM refresh ...
