1) Phone type

Pulse, U8220

2) Official 2.1 ROM flashed (T-Mobile, Tre, other)

T-Mobile

2a) If flashed T-Mobile did you flash custom_hu

No

3) Did you do a full wipe before installing FLB 1.0?

Yes

4) Did you use any restore apps like Titanium Backup?

No

5) Are you using A2SD?

Nope

6) Problem with the rom

Keyboard (Both) are laggy and unresponsive in both Opera and the Google search widget / app. Keyboard takes 10+ seconds to open and disappears after a few letters. It will then refuse to open until you click to bring up the keyboard again then it will open and shut immediately.. Works fine with Text messages. Not sure about other apps

Anyone else have the same problem? :S

Are you using autokiller or any other task manager??

Nope, after a reboot it seemed to work fine again for a while. Now it's doing it again

I had something similar happen to me, apps would show for a sec, then disappear... I guess it has to do with the lack of memory, so live wallpapers or some 'heavy' widgets are out of the question, for now at least :D

I'm not completely sure that this is FLB-MOD thing, but after I've flashed it (couple of days ago) I don't have any groups functionality in contacts app. Meaning, I can't see where/how to add new groups to the contacts?! There's only one group, Favorites, that was there by default and I can only put the contacts there!!? Another thing, when I add or edit contact, there's no option in the form to select a group? This was working nice in 1.5

Is this normal for the 2.1 contacts app?

You have to do all the group work from within Google Mail website. The contacts application doesn't have that functionality

I already done that, but the groups weren't updated in my phone?! Is there any special procedure to do that? Do you maybe know of some third party contacts app that has groups func?

Thanks.

I have a fully working FLB 1.0 with A2SD. No FCs, installed tons of programs, working flawlessly... but i have only one big problem.

After launching any memory hungry application (enough only once) my desktop widgets stops refreshing (like counting down, or fancy widget (time too)), along with gmail sync. Weird. Seems to me the system autokill some processes in this case, which belongs to refreshing, syncing.

If I use small programs, the problem doesn't appear. I can use my phone all day without refreshing problem, if not using big, memory hungry programs, like iGO.

I have enough memory: 25-30 MB cache, 1 GB ext2, dalvik on sd...

Well by default it will sync all groups but the phone cannot sort contacts by group, it will just show all contacts unless you change the settings to hide certain groups. You access that from the menu key.

That's your problem right there. The custom_hu breaks wifi for any custom rom.

OK,

I have gone back to 1.5, re-applied Dec update, installed Tmobile 2.1 upgrade and then tried installing this ROM

Problem now: I can't get the touchscreen to work at all!

Any ideas?

This is known problem, try to flash old kernel - http://flibblesan.co.uk/android/flbmod/tes...bmod_kernel.zip that Flibblesan has provided as well as you will need to flash wifi update http://flibblesan.co.uk/android/flbmod/tes...od_v1.0wifi.zip.

It's not a problem related to the kernel. In-fact it's strange that it happens at all as I assume being in the UK he's using a T-Mobile Pulse which works perfectly fine. A reboot should sort the issue out, or try clearing the touchscreen setting from inside recovery.

Yes, UK T mobile Pulse. A reboot (in fact I did it 3 times just to make sure!) doesn't solve the problem. How do I clear the touch screen from inside recovery?

Flashing the old kernel allows touchscreen to work but wifi cannot be enabled

Flashing the wifi update makes no difference.

Help!

I know previously you did install the custom_hu after installing the 2.1 update. Did you make sure you didn't do that this time?

More than 90% of pulse owners running FLB-MOD 1.0 do not have any issues regarding the touchscreen not working. There are two things that are known to cause this:

1) Installing the CUSTOM_HU update (this also breaks wi-fi)

2) Flashing the superboot image

Those two patches were an attempt to resolve an issue somebody else was having where the new kernel just didn't work at all for them.

You can certainly try installing everything again but please take time and care whilst doing so.

1) Format your SD card fully

2) Copy the dload folder from the time machine update to the SD

3) Turn off the phone and remove the battery for 30 seconds. Put battery back in and start the phone whilst holding down the volume UP and the red button. This will start the installation of the downgrade patch. If your phone resets quickly, hold down the buttons again. Do not release until you see updating with a progress bar

4) The phone will restart but be stuck in a loop due to no OS. Remove the SD card and place into a card reader. Delete all files then copy the 1.5 December Update dload folder to the SD

5) Put SD card back into the phone and restart holding down the volume up and red button again. Keep holding down until you see updating with a progress bar. If the phone hangs on "Update finished" then wait 30 seconds and remove the battery

6) Turn on the phone and allow to boot into Android 1.5. Whilst at the "Touch Android" screen, make sure the touchscreen works. Hold down the power button then select "Switch off"

7) Remove SD card and copy the Hungarian 2.1 T-Mobile dload folder to the SD card. Place back into the phone and boot whilst holding down the volume UP and red button. This will install 2.1 official to the phone and carry out any system upgrades required. Once done it may hang on "Upgrade complete". Remove the battery and allow the phone to boot. Check that touchscreen works and shut down the phone.

8) Turn on the phone holding down the volume down and red buttons

9) Install the 1.5.2 recovery image using the bat file. A window should pop up with some output. Once done remove battery, place back in and turn phone on whilst holding down the menu and red button

10) In recovery, go to option "Partition sdcard" and choose "Partition SD"

11) Choose 0 for swap, 512mb for ext and it'll use the rest for fat partition

12) Once it has done the partitioning, go back to the main menu and select "USB-MS toggle". Copy FLB-MOD to your device

13) press green button and go back to main menu. Select option "Wipe"

14) One by one select each wipe option

15) Back to main menu and select option "Flash zip from sdcard"

16) Select flb and confirm. The rom will now be unpacked and installed. If you get ANY errors, report them in the thread.

17) Once installed, click "Reboot system now"

18) Android 2.1 will now boot and you should have working touchscreen (test clicking the android). The ROM is now installed.[/code]

This is the same method I use and I never have any issues with touchscreen or wi-fi. With the exception of the U8220-6 amd U8230 devices all U8220/Pulse phones are internally the same. There isn't any logical reason why FLB-MOD 1.0 should cause you to have no working touchscreen as the kernel use absolutely does provide support for it.

If you have a problem please post here using this template:

Flibblesan:

Fantastic job on the ROM. Thanks a lot for all your hard work - this ROM makes my Pulse fly.

Most of the features working perfectly or very well. The problems I mention at the end I consider non-essential.

1) Phone type

T-Mobile Pulse U8220

2) Official 2.1 ROM flashed (T-Mobile, Tre, other)

Yes, T-Mobile HU

2a) If flashed T-Mobile did you flash custom_hu

NO

3) Did you do a full wipe before installing FLB 1.0?

YES

4) Did you use any restore apps like Titanium Backup?

NO

5) Are you using A2SD?

NO

6) Problem with the rom

- camera not working properly - same as with beta 5.1. All pictures out of focus - camera seems unable to focus. BTW, was working very well previously (1.7 February 9 custom ROM from MoDaCo)

- speech input disappeared - no microphone button next to input box. Was working well in FLB beta 5.1

Not too sure about the camera but I will see what I can do about it.

Speech input was changed from the VoiceSearchWithKeyboard to standalone LatinIME and VoiceSearch from the market. The voice search apk is in /data/app/ so if it's not showing, you can try to install it manually. It's possible that this hasn't installed itself correctly.

I tried following all the steps you listed. Failed. I think because Tmobile 2.1 rom wasn't included in the steps.

So I went back to install the Hungarian TMobile 2.1 (but without the Custom_HU). Then installed FLB-rom.

Touchscreen doesn't work

What now?

Is it worth trying the swiss rom? If so, do I need to start from 1.5 again?

I've problems with SMS receiving . I lost yesterday a SMS. I'm using AutoKiller with moderate settings but it seems like this it not THE solution. On the other mobile phone the delivery report says that the SMS is delivered. I restarted the Pulse but I didn't get the message still today.

And automatically you think is the problem Whit the ROM.

How about your network operator??

How about over flow traffic etc etc.....

Of course I think it's a ROM problem. The SMS issue is well known and others persons have the same error.

I don't think it's a network operator issue because the sending person got a successful delivery report.

That simply means that your SD card is too slow to be used with A2SD
