Guest YoDJMC Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 yea battery cover is fine on mine, i only have to to tap the cover and it switches off lol, anyway phoned o2 and i have to send it in for repair as im over 30days for a straight swap. I got mine replaced by courier at the door yesterday for the same issue - at that was reported after the 30 days, maybe 32 days. Must have just been nice to me :-). The techie put up no fight at all and said it wasn't a common problem. Hmmm - not convinced...
Guest jannism Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 It's happened to me a few times now. I don't think it has anything to do with the back cover at all - seems more likely a bug with Dell's implementation of the OS - which leads me to hope (dream?) that it will be addressed with the sainted 2.2 release. As it happens, my Streak suffered a total meltdown last night and got locked in an endless loop of wtf. This resulted in nothing more than the O2 screen being displayed. Completely useless. In the end I was forced into a factory reset just to get the damn thing to respond. I must say I'm starting to lose patience with it and, much as I want to like it, I'm no longer convinced that I like it THAT much...
Guest spences10 Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Mine has done it three times in the last two days, no task manager installed & battery cover on as snug as a bug! Mine randomly turned off last night after I imported about a gig of music onto the memory card. Back fits perfectly and no task manager installed.
Guest Loconinja Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 When the Streak turns itself "off", it cannot be turned on again with the power button, instead the battery has to be removed and replaced. This makes me think that it is not off, but has hung in some way. Therefore I suspect it is software related.

Perhaps, but I had the same symptoms of hanging like this but could get it to happen whenever I tapped the back cover or put it down a anything heavier than gently. It was instantaneous. It might be a software response to the back cover sensors thinking the cover was being removed or something.
