PROBLEM FLASHING MY I8000 WITH OCTAN

please i tried flashing my phone samsung i8000 with window 6.5.3 rom, the octans downloader 1.91 and 2.4 does not recognise my device, the error message i got of the octans downloader is "ERROR 0: USB NO ACK. CHECK ACTIVE SYNC. TIME OUT :-1" kindly tell me what i did wrong. this is the first time i'm using the downloader for rom flashing and i'm using a window vista laptop.
