Hello

I cant figure out why my SCH-I920 has such slow download speeds and slow web page rendering. Its painful most times. I have tried flashing every rom I could find, changing browsers and turning off power management.

Any advice or links are appreciated!

My friend is on Verizon too except he has an motorola droid. We can put them side by side on the table so cell signal is the same. The omnia 2 clocks higher but seems the motorola renders the page several times faster.

It this a modem firmware throttle? Do I unlock it?

I love win mobile because I can use Citrix ICA client for work. I wish to tweak it since I am locked into a contract.

Thank you in advance!

The droid is using a newer processor, thus is faster at a slower clock (I thought we learned awhile ago clock speed isn't the end-all of actual speed).

I always use my phone in high performance mode, which seems to help. But really, just try a couple different browsers to see which one works best. If using IE, a couple of tweaks are to increase the maximum number of connections it can make (using Advanced Configuration Utility), and also increase the cache size so it has to download less for your most commonly visited sites.

you have to tell us the webpage you are loading the time it takes. Without that, we dont know whether it is a specific problem with your setup or a general problem with windows mobile.

On my i8000 most of the time I use Opera and I don't find it slow. From where I am in, there's also another lightening fast choice called Mach5Web, which is a proxy technology browser like Opera Mini but 1000 times faster in where I am. I can browse complicated webpage with flash support just as fast as loading on my PC desktop. However, that browser is not free (about US$25 per year) and also contents go through the company's proxy so as fast as it is, I do not prefer to use it.

I am running uZardwebP browser which looks to be based on the same engine as Mach5Web, have a look UzardWebP

Navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Software

Microsoft

Windows

CurrentVersion

Internet Settings

On the Edit menu, point to New, click DWORD Value, and then add the following registry values:

Value name: MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server

Value data: 32

Base: Decimal

Value Name: MaxConnectionsPerServer

Value data: 16

My biggest problem is that my O2 is very slow rendering when i scroll in the page. With any version of Opera except opera mini this appends. With uzard or skyfire the same thing. Is it possible to make this better??

when in the stock opera 9.5 -

in address bar type "opera:config"

Under User Press -> 'turbo mode'

check that and scroll down to save.

Don't know if it is a placebo or not, but it is ~seems~ to render pages more quickly.

FWIW

Yes, I'm using that too as Mach5Web has only got 1 month free trial. However, it's the proxy server speed that matters for this type of browser. I believe Mach5Web's proxy is in Hong Kong, which is where I am, that's why I'm seeing ligtening fast browsing speed. For uZardWeb, I'm seeing speed similar to Skyfire, which is nothing to brag about. uZardweb uses more data than Opera Mini and renders the page a bit slower than Opera Mini, so I end up using Opera Mini, except for pages with flash video where Opera Mini cannot handle.

I exactly agree with you. I was searching forum about it but still couldn't find solution. Tried too many roms but it's same in all.. I checked youtube for HTC HD2 or android, they are much faster than omnia.. But even though Omnia 2 has 800 mhz processor, it's renderin slower than other ones.. What's the problem???
