Guest igor_anta Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 (edited) Why exactly would those two be the options? :) Edited August 5, 2010 by igor_anta
Guest RottenFoxBreath Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 Why exactly would those two be the options? :) Well, seeing as Macedonia is sandwiched in between Greece, Albania, and Bulgaria, it's a pretty good guess, as to why.
Guest PhilipBerovo Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 well i found a room named balkan so i think this could be the one that is used in all those countries :)

Guest qwerta369 Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 How does one check which version is on the phone?
Guest Corran Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 How does one check which version is on the phone? Settings->About (the phone)->bottom of the list. Mine says GT540-V10C-May-12-2010 (I got mine in Sweden, ie the Nordic region)
Guest qwerta369 Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Thanks Corran. Mine says GT540-V10a-JUN-24-2010 so which is that?
Guest AerospaceMango Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Thanks Corran. Mine says GT540-V10a-JUN-24-2010 so which is that? Mine says the same............. I got mine from Carphone Warehouse (CPW)...does that help?
Guest qwerta369 Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Mine says the same............. I got mine from Carphone Warehouse (CPW)...does that help? I got mine from CPW too. Isn't that weird though? I mean, it's the first time I've ever seen a mobile phone shop have their own custom firmware version on a phone. A network I've seen - in fact it's common - but never a mobile phone shop. Why? And what is different on the CPW firmware compared with the generic firmware from LG?

Guest RottenFoxBreath Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) And what is different on the CPW firmware compared with the generic firmware from LG? Generic LG has more crap on it.. check here: http://www.lg.com/uk/mobile-phones/all-lg-...hones-GT540.jsp Look for "explore product features" tab down the page a bit, to see the crap they put on it. Carphone Warehouse actually are Opel Telecom, and Talk Talk Telecom(not sure if thats still ongoing), as well as owning Tele2 and One.Tel, and I'm sure they have fingers in AOL too..they are pretty big in europe also.. Guest PaulZero Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Would I be right in thinking our delicious Carphone Warehouse models aren't SIM locked? I have been using it with O2 UK, not had the opportunity to shove another SIM in but it'd be nice if it was indeed free of the shackles of one network.

Should be, but if it's not, it's only about £8 or so to get it sim unlocked, and TBH theres only 1 difference from the o2 version to the others, and that's pre-installed APN's for texts/web, apart from that it's a blank slate....now the Orange fuckup, that's another story..lol.
Guest qwerta369 Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Yes, most handsets (even Pay As You Go handsets) from CPW (inc. subsidiaries such as e2save / mobiles.co.uk etc) are not SIM locked. My GT540 is from CPW as was bought on T-Mobile Pay As You Go. It is not locked. I use it in Ireland with my Meteor SIM. I sold the T-Mobile Pay As You Go SIM on eBay for £3.

The only thing which I noticed was installed and does not work is SIMS 3. I am not religious about it but if I get around to it I might try to delete it - or have a go at reinstalling it. Other than that I do use some of the bloatware anyway(Facebook, places, twitter, Latitude etc.)
