Guest Noonski Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 I originally posted this in the thread mentioned in post #2 about adding custom zips to the baking process but that thread appears dead, so apologies if anyone is re-reading this here. I thought I'd do a custom R6 Desire ROM with a couple of extras installed. I tried including a few useful apps (Astro/ROM Manager/Dropbox) and put them in the system/app folder or data/app. Also tried including a couple of mods (Circle Battery & Bluetooth). Put Circle Battery's framework-res in the framework folder and the Bluetooth mod in etc/bluetooth. When the ROM is baked I can open it up and see that everyhting is in the right place but if I flash with either the Battery or Bluetooth mods in there I get constant reboots at the bootanim stage (HTC Quietly Brilliant). The only way to recover from this is to go to recovery and do a Nandroid restore. In the process of trying to figure out why this was happening I moved the apps to data instead of system and eventually got rid of the mods. So now I flash with just the apps in data/apps. The flash goes OK and the phone boots but those apps are not installed :( Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong please? For info, this is the content of my zip file... system/app/ASTRO 2.5.2.apk system/app/astro-smb.apk system/app/Barcode Scanner 3.31.apk system/app/Dropbox 0.9.8.6.apk system/app/ROM Manager 2.0.0.7.apk system/etc/bluetooth/audio.conf system/framework/framework-res.apk[/codebox] TIA Aaron Instead of adding the zip file in the kitchen, have you tried mannually adding in the files in the baked Modaco.zip file? That's how i do it.
Guest RevoWution Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 If I were to flash this r6 ROM, but somewhere down the line I decide to go back to Paul's r3.1 ROM, would that be as simple as just loading the r3.1 zip file, wiping everything and flashing the r3.1 ROM again? :( Thanks!
Guest Paulo Nobrega Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 sorry to mention this again, but im hoping someone will light my head with some kind of solution... installed R6, did a wipe, and still LED does not work in notifications like sms (handcent or chomp or whatever). Any ideas???

Guest smumford Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Just noticed a problem with the calender and wondered if anyone could replicate the problem. Not sure if it is linked to the R6 ROM or if it also happens with stock ROMs as well. If I create a calender event and complete the fields "Where" and "Description" then save the event, then go back in to edit the event, before changing anything the calender has replaced the "description" field with the contents of the "Where" field. Anyone else had this problem or can replicate it?

Guest Mushhushshu Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 yep. with both gmail and exchange calenders Im having another small issue with calendar - when I set an event to "all day" in my gmail calendar, the htc calendar app doesnt seem to treat it as an all day event - it says it is, but its not showing as lasting the whole day in agenda view, and the little green bar in month view is very small (sure it used to fill totally if I set an all day event), also, I had an all day event set for today, and as soon as it turned midnight it stopped displaying this on the 4x1 sense calendar widget, and started displaying monday's event instead, it used to display an all day event upto and including the day the event was on (if that makes any sense), now it seems to display it on the widget upto the day but once the day starts it displays the next event instead. Can anyone else check if theres behaves this way? Not sure if its a bug or if theyve just changed how it handles all day events. Overall sweet rom, been using it since release and this is the only issue/annoyance I've encountered and its a small one :(
Guest KHShapiro Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 ok, ive read and i might have missed it BUT Can you install over r4 without wipe or is it only r5 without wipe? Again can i install over r4 without wipe?

Guest psxweb Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 my only problem is the led flashlight not working
Guest 325i Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 I see that froyo will now officially be released. Question is, will Modaco create a new froyo ROM based on the official version? Also, is it worth getting the R6 compared to the R5?
Guest planeth Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 My desire gets heaps of error messages and f/c's, when using this ROM, without sense (baked in kitchen) I had the same problem when i tried out r3.1. I'm using r21 froyo with no sense right now. Any idea why i get all the errors and f/c's? Will r21 be upgraded anymore? Can anyone explain to me, the difference between r6 and r21, and let me know what's the best ROM if I want Froyo and no sense?

R21 Is Build on a source mainly for the Nexus One. R6 should be more stable, and you can get rid of a lot of the Sense stuff. Eventually people will figure out how to get rid of all/most HTC aditions.

But basically the ROM doesn't work on my phone, if I don't include sense. Is it just me or is it like that for everyody? If it's like that for everybody, then why do we have the option to exlude sense in the kitchen?
Guest lightspeedc Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 I am a newbie. I flashed my Desire with this ROM and found that it does not have any static wallpapers. Can you tell me how to install static wallpapers? Thank you so much.

Guest planeth Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 I suppose it's just me then. I just tried to bake another r6-rom, including sense this time, and i still get error messages and f/c's. (on r3 i only got the errors, when excluding sense) I wiped before flash. Is something wrong with my desire? Any ideas why it's acting up on me?
Guest desire beer Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Nice rom. But have some small issues with programs that worked ok earlier. Osmdroid crash from time to time when I change resolution of the map. This never happened when I was useing the 2.1 rom from HTC. But then this rom makes it possible to change from chargeing to disk when connecting to PC, earlier I had to reboot the phone and cross my fingers to see it happen. Are also seing something strange with the antivirus program, with the messages staying in the status bar. Earlier it didn't. But thats only minor nuicanses.
Guest desire beer Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 A2SD+ not working for me. I have installed a bunch of apps, checked memory and it's gone down quite a bit. I realize /data/data is still on the phone so I went back to stock ROM and installed the same apps and the reduction in memory is the same. I used ROM manager to partition my SD card. It is possible that this is not working? Thanks working for me. Not all apps will install to sd, but installed the app2sd app from market to move apps to sd if they can. I did do an upgrade from r5.
Guest CF Chong Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 When I first had my HTC Desire, bluetooth was not able to scan my Jabra BT2070. Then I rooted and installed the Nexus One port (cannot remember which Modaco custom version due to uncountable flashing) and bluetooth was able to scan, connect and paired with my Jabra. Bluetooth was also working fine through the various versions of Froyo. Then Froyo Sense came along, and bluetooth is no longer working as before. It can no longer scan my Jabra anymore. Anyone can help provide the bluetooth version from Google Froyo?
Guest smumford Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 (edited) Does anyone know whether this is to do with the R6 ROM or if it is a general android problem? Edited July 31, 2010 by smumford
Guest htcdesire Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Nice ROM, thanks dude. 720p isn't really working properly for me, very jittery and playback doesnt work very well?
Guest zomig Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 The market is the only thing i am having issues with on this rom. Having to try several times to get apps to download and install. They do eventually install but not on the first try.
