When I saw this, I thought maybe it was titanium restoring a broken version of adfree, so I did another install with a wipe cache/data and only restored rom manager using titanium (everything else is as in r7), but can still see ads in rom manager....gggrrrr.

I'm gonna have to dig around and find the hosts file to determine if it is doing anything.

just open a browser on your desire an try to open

00fun.com

if it returns an error adfree works

just also think of apps that have ads integrated and don't fetch online over http, so adfree has no effect

try with another app than rommanager ...

to make sure look at /data/etc/hosts how many kbytes it has, mine is 600k

if your hosts is in /data/etc, mine is, leave the symlink from /data/data/hosts unchecked

hope this helps

quick question regarding the wifi-n option. Why would we want to not include this, is there some kind of side effect having this included in the rom?

If you want to odex /system/app, download this file, extract it to a directory, then from a command prompt above that directory do:

adb push odex /data/odex

adb shell /data/odex/odex.sh

... wait for reboot to recovery, then enter fake-flash recovery ...

adb shell mount /system

adb shell mount /sdcard

adb shell cp /sdcard/odex/* /system/app

reboot

I'd advise backing up first, but interested to hear your results. Working fine here.

P

Thanks for that Paul. worked fine.

One minor point though, I had to do a chmod +x on the odex.sh before I could run it.

Very strange, i've checked the framework and everything looks normal and the Germany day names are in there correctly, I wonder if it's a Froyo compatability issue with the Wetter app itself?

P

I'm quite sure this is a problem with your rom. I've an app that has the same problem with your rom. But when I test the app in the Android emulator with 2.2 it shows the correct day names.

Using the following function to display a date:

public static String formatCalendarToExtDate(Calendar cal) {

  SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("EEEE, dd. MMMM yyyy");

  sdf.setDateFormatSymbols(new DateFormatSymbols(Locale.getDefault()));

  return sdf.format(cal.getTime());

 }

What would be the advantage of disabling 802.11n? Does it sap battery quicker or something?

edit: Sorry, just seen this has been answered already. Still, is it a very significant difference? I use WiFi a lot as my work has an open WiFi network and I use it at home as well.

Isn't the whole point with the WiFi N-standard to have longer range, higher speed AND consume less energy? :)

That's kind of what I thought. I'm gonna give it a bash as there's a couple of spots in my house and garden I can't get a decent WiFi signal, so maybe this will help.

Since r5 I have problems to connect to a wifi hotspot wich is secured via WEP at my work.

The desire connects to the AP obtain an ip, then, wifi stop (icon in the notification bar), reapear and the phone try to connect

With 2.1 stock rom or Modoca 3.1 I have add no problem.

At home I still have access via wifi with an other wifi AP the wifi seams to work but since kernel in r5 there is certainnly a new wifi driver or option that cause the trouble ...

I've try the new kitchen with and with out wifi n option but the problem is still there.

Does some have the same issu ?

Feature Request to Paul:

Please add Kernel Perflock Disable as Option in the Kitchen.

in the ROM i saw at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742371 the creator has disbled the Kernel Perflock permanently.

This is awesome because it let us underclock the CPU with SetCPU without disabling the Perflock each reboot.

I have uncheck Sense (and many others) too and it works without any FC on mine.

After a new cooked rom (all htc app removed) and a wipe. I'm still getting FC about this app : com.htc.hgp

OK I have just done 2 bakes in the kitchen, 1 with Vibrate on shutdown enabled, 1 with it disabled, all other options the same, both are the same size, but have different MD5's, but neither of them vibrates on shutdown. I had previously done 3 different bakes with vibrate on shutdown enabled and none of them vibrated either. Is anyone else getting the vibration or not.

Hi Paul, thanks for the wonderful ROM. I baked in WaveSecure and I no longer want to use it. Is there any way to remove it?

Try this one. its fixed and working great.

is there a version that works with an odexed /system/app?

i'll hold off for now but i love this customisation, but i desperately need the space that odexing gives me.

Yes, but I do not know yours abilities.

Boot to recovery, mount /system and remove from /system/app.
