after the update from R6 -> R7 gone native android contacts and calendar - is there a way to return them.

Wait for Paul to re-add them :)

(they must've accidently gone down the sink in the kitchen :D)

I have a problem with SD card unmounting unexpectedly. Didn't happen with r5/r6.

Device: HTC Desire

Rom: MCR r7, HTC_CIME

SD card: 8G class 2

Relevant software used: ES File Explorer, FTPServer

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Connect via USB cable (to adapter or PC isn't relevant)

2. Charge only (Ask me or not isn't relevant)

3. SD card will be umounted in Charge only mode. AutoPlay will show up in PC. No notification shown if connected to the adaptor, SD card will still be unmounted

Workaround:

1. If connected to PC. Pull down notification and tap on Charge only and select charge only - Done again, SD will be back (see how silly)

2. If connected to adaptor, no solution (THIS KILLS ME!!!!!!!)

@Paul could you look at this? Thanks!!!

[FIXED]

The problem is caused by doubleTwist - Auto USB Drive function. Sorry for the trouble created.

They are there for me...

Both Calendar widgets are there...

and the HTC contacts widget is called "People"

(I can remember that because I spent 5 min wondering where "contacts" was...)

I have Google calendars shared by me and with me. Not sure about the contacts.

I reflashed a new bake today, without a wipe, (excluded more; news, rss, peep, stocks, friend stream and possibly more, added 3d gallery) and haven't seen the error yet. But I am now getting sync issues. Sync icon permanently in the bar, due to errors syncing the accounts. Isn't any one in particular though; was a google account, rebooted then it was facebook, rebooted and now it's twitter..

FIX FOR "The Process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" issue...

I think it has something to do with your contacts being corrupt. (and right after a wipe/reflash I have a person in my contacts that google adds because I share a calendar with them...)

Anyway to fix it, try this...

1) Back up your contacts (I use the HTC Sync program and sync them with a separate contact list I have made in outlook called "phone contacts") Other backup ways might work, but then might also transfer the issue back when you restore, but I know doing it through outlook seems to work. so this is the method I will describe

2) on your phone, go to "settings", "accounts & sync", and make sure that "background data" and "Auto-sync" are disabled

3) Have your phone plugged into the computer, and ready to click on the HTC sync icon to sync your contacts (is htc software loaded, usb set to sync etc..)

4) on the phone go to "settings", "Applications", "Manage Applications", select the "Running" tab, "contacts storage"

5) on the phone click "Clear data" (which erases your contacts) and then as soon as its erased click "sync" on your PC. (which does a restore of the contacts)

- I am not sure how critical it is if you do it right after, but I notice with a synced calendar, the phone adds that contact right back in within 10 seconds, so I want the restore to take place first via the PC.

- also note, you might get a bunch of errors, force closes etc after you hit the "clear data" as some processes might be trying to access them at the time... don't worry about it...

6) when this is finished, I did a reboot, went back into "settings", "accounts & sync", and ticked "background data" and "Auto-sync" to enable.

7) after a while your facebook etc etc stuff will be auto synced back in... (contact photos etc) - sometimes it takes a while to do them all, and might take a couple of auto syncs to do it if you have a lot of linked facebook/contact acconts...

Well, as far as I can see that fixed it - its been a whole day and no error... (before it happened somewhere between 5 min and 4 hours....)

I think its something to do with calendar syncing or the extra contact fields, or the databases structure, but anyway, this seems to fix it..

Hope it helps. make sure you back up your contacts first.. and check that they did actually back up.... :)

Warmly, Marty

PS. Leaving things out of the kitchen like facebook, peep(twitter), weather etc I dont think is a good idea.... Sense is very tightly interwoven with one app getting data from another, and if its not there when it tries.... BINGO.. you have an error...

Yes, there are widgets (android / htc calendar), but the application calendar and contacts I have not (looking at titanium backup, were in R6)

not really. since my first baked rom i got rid off all of them "social network" apps (like peep, plurk, facebook, car panel, stocks, friendstream, (now) app sharing, ...), never had a problem with them missing.

(always cooked in: News and Weather, THC Lock Screen, Gmail ...)

The mobile data connection doesn't show when you are connected to a wireless network. If you aren't connected to one then you should check your APN's.

Yes you are right my mistake. Only problem is the vibrate on shutdown not working.

Am disappointed in 2.2 in general though, tried the official one and deleted all data/cache but my web browsing was not so smooth when scrolling forums. My reception seems to be a bit lower too, updated to latest radio. Am tempted to restore my nandroid backup and go back to my official unbranded vodafone 2.1 rom..... Will wait and see.

The contacts and calendar apps you're looking at are the ones from HTC - not the stock android apps :)

I see the voicedial option in the kitchen for the cooked Rom. Do anybody know how to install the voicedial into a working system separately? Is there any .apk for voicedial or something? If there is a voicedial apk where could I find it?

Right moved to this rom, will check it out.

Initial problem I see is that I only have a signal icon but it doesn't say how it is connected, i.e. H for HDSPA, G for 3G, etc... [Check dkodr's screenshot it's the same problem or he is only getting a 2g signal there]...

H = HSPDA (3G)

G = GPRS (2G)

E = EDGE (2G)

3G isn't the same H ... 3G is UMTS, H is HSPA

Actually HSPA is still part of the UMTS standard, it is just enhanced 3G essentially.

I upgraded to MCR7 and found that I had no data connection (ie no G, 3g or H indicators) and found that I had no APN settings. I am on Orange and if you need them pm me or google.

Otherwise this ROM is great :)

(Sorted, thanks to next post...cheers)

Paul,

I hve already mentioned the first problem, but it has never been answered.

The second problem is mentioned for the first time, but very important.

So once more with r7:

1. Alarm clock snoozes only 4-5 times, then message box with two buttons appears (Snooze (not active) and Dismiss (active)).

2. While charging and using car navigation program (City Guide), Desire reboots simultaneously. Unplugging USB solves the problem, but in this case device can not function much time using GPS, so this IS the problem.

Please, answer, if it can be fixed?

I think Paul can not do anything with these problems.

1. I think it's HTC developed the app like this, so you should drop an email to them.

2. same as above, try to contact the developers.

Working as it should be. Try to remove the app from SU app, then reapply.

In this case the same problem should appear by all official 2.2 users - inclusive non-rooted users.

Is that true?

Why people don't understand that Paul can't do anything with this? Ask HTC to implement a better sensor. Also, the sensor is waaaay to tiny to produce HD quality videos, no matter it's called 720p, it's simply not. A good HD camcorder costs like a new Desire... Just my two cents...

mr. wise guy, who the hell said that its Paul's fault? and who the hell talked about the picture quality? we are talking about our choppy recorded videos, which is a bug.

just open up youtube.com and search for desire 720p videos, then let me show the videos recorded with my desire.

the videos on youtube looks ok compared to my videos (tbh, a few of them cant played back, even on my pc)

get off the high horse.
