Guest pfsykes Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 What do I have to do to add OpenVPN to this ROM? Ist there a ZIP-file for the "Upload ZIP" button? Paul can you put this as an option in the kitchen or just add as standard. This is a real must for T-Mobile users so they can use skpe and VOIP over 3g due to the ports being blocked and costing almost double my contract price to have the ports un blocked. Many thanks Peter
Guest tinnef Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I agree it could be worded better, but it does say that if you don't select this option you'll get the HTC one and by selecting it you will replace it. Anyone? :) I'll look into it! P Apparently the text for the Gmail item is clear enough, so how about: "This option includes the standard Google Messaging application. If you do not select this option, the HTC version will be included." Paul would you please consider adding a perflock disable option in your kitchen? just so us lazy ppl wouldnt have to disable it via Setcpu everytime we boot. Thx in advance :D +1
Guest acrickie Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I have to reinstall Swype after every reboot. Very odd. Usually Swype stopped working when I flashed a new version of the rom w/o wiping ... not an issue with some of the other ROMs. I have swype installed and selected as my main input, have rebooted about 4 times this morning as well as accidently re-flashing the R7 ROM (instead of the Circle Battery MoD) and Swype is still selected as my current keyboard....

Guest Apostol Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Hi to all, I had an Orange :) branded desire which i debranded unlocked and rooted. I tried many different roms (opendesire 3-3.05, defrost 2.5a, r6,r7) and I always had problem with the wifi and with the battery. I set wifi to never sleep, I save the settings but when screen turns off wifi stop working and some times it is disabled. Also battery is draining fast (much faster than the stock rom) and there is problem with led indicator while charging. I tried all that with the latest radio (5.09.00.08 and 5.09.00.20) . Since there was no solution to wifi problem Im using now a stock rom, 1.21.405.2 with 4.06.00.02_2 radio and everything work fine but i lost my root :D Anyone has any idea about what is causing the problem? Thank you

I googled and googled and googled and found it in the open desire rom... What I am asking for is that if Paul plans to compile a new kernel then just slip in the TUN.KO in to the standard build. I can add the rest manualy I have not problem installing the other bits to make it work. I have build Kernels in the past for x86 but never got the hang of the tool chains for other platforms. Thanks Peter Edited August 9, 2010 by pfsykes
Guest armshouse Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 As he is a plus member he gets it for free :) if you are a plus member, how do you get hold of the license key? btw Paul, awesome work with this! went from cyanogen to r5 recently and did a speed test and was a bit disappointed that it was a lot slower... but this version is awesome and just as fast now! thanks!

Guest Cee-Bot Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) I seem to be experienced a big power drain since I installed the latest version. Might be an app. From 100 to 66 percent in 6 hours. Surely that's not normal? Edited August 9, 2010 by Cee-Bot
Guest Diggedy Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Noticed a lot of lag in this ROM whereas before it was fine, no new apps added to my usual set of about 4 apps... I had the same trouble, only getting 25 maximum in linpack. I did a full wipe and reflashed, rebooted before adding any apps and now its fine

I did a full wipe and reflashed, rebooted before adding any apps and now its fine Always full wipe before flashing any ROM and I bake my apps into it so I don't have to install them and it was still bad. Also noticed poor batter life on the latest radio so gonna go back to the previous one as I was getting 2 days out of it then...101MB free space after first boot, though Edited August 9, 2010 by EddyOS
Guest Abnormal1 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Checking SetCPU, the frequency on mine DEFINITELY drops to 245MHz correctly. P I think the problem is more to do with how ondemand is working as I also found that my cpu drops to 245 but if you watch the cpu speed in relation to a 2.1 rom the cpu speed seems to stay at higher frequency's more often. I also found that after using a SetCPU profile (Have to use perflock Disabler at every boot) to set max cpu speed to 500ish at screen off my battery has greatly improved. My thinking however is that it should not be making much of a difference as ondemand should drop the cpu speed right down in screen off mode most of the time anyway. This seems to be the case with 2.1 as using SetCPU profiles did not make any real difference for me. Also I have recently seen that in NextSense Rom there is a script to enable Perflock at boot and he has also got CFQ running on his rom. Any chance of this happening with MCR. Oh I found this out here. Either Way Thanks Paul for the Great Rom.
Guest Albert Poon Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 The main APNs file is actually inside framework-res.apk. :) P Thanks for the reply, but anyhow I still have to enter APN manually after each r7 wipe (my provider code is 45406). I needed to enter it for the early stage of r6, but later r6 did fixed the problem. Would you please take a look at it? Thanks!
Guest Paul Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Yeah, i'll check the APN settings out for that provider. P
Guest Albert Poon Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Yeah, i'll check the APN settings out for that provider. P Thanks Paul! Meanwhile, please also take a look on the stock HTC_IME. It contains all the settings for Chinese Handwriting, but Chinese Handwriting box cannot be called up anyhow. I have to flash your r1-wvga-cime-signed.zip in order to use such feature.
Guest Paul Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Alright, have a new version in test now with a bunch of fixes, including the 'old' Contacts app. There's some major low-level changes to this one so I need to do some extended testing, so expect the update to be online tomorrow! P
Guest Jamsi Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 A few problems after installing the r7. 1. I don't seem to be able to send MMS-messages at all. The settings should be ok. 2. When i try to send a file from my Macbook to Desire via Bluetooth I get an error "This transfer is forbidden by the target device". I can succesfully pair the devices, but when I accept the transfer on Desire, I get that error.

Surely that's not normal? Friend of mine thinks it's the new Facebook. (No real hard evidence) But I did find the new Face book Contact Syncing adds a lot of duplicates to contacts :) I'll replace with the Old Facebook and test tomorrow.

Guest Paul Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Not sure why you'd WANT to install both Messaging apps, but it's nice to have the option right. :) P
Guest pfsykes Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Paul do you have an update on the kernel. Are you going to include the TUN.KO and perflock in the next kitchen update. Peter
Guest Paul Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I hope to include tun.ko and ext4 shortly, i'll look into what's required for the perflock change. P
