Thanks for all the hard work Paul. 1 problem I get is Htc mod always gets "Force Close" when trying to use the calibrate tool for the keyboard. Settings/ language & keyboard/ Htc_ime mod/ text input/ calibration tool = Force close . Is there a fix for this or is anyone else getting this problem?

2. When choosing Russian on Sense stock keyboard, the Space button on letters keyboard enters '!' sign. I was able to insert Space by switching to numbers (123). In that mode Space button really enters Space sign, but it switches back to letters right after that.

I saw the same behavior on a fully stock 2.09 without root. It's the HTC fault.

Hello Paul,

Excellent kitchen .

One issue : I can't connect to hidden SSID wireless networks. Lucky me I found HiddenSSID Enabler on market :-).

Part of my setup which may help tracking:

A2SD+ , Disable 802.11N WiFi support, Disable perflock, Disable vibrate on shutdown, Trackpad Wake with Power.

Is there a chance to fix this issue?

BR,

Sub

My home network has a hidden SSID, and it connects effortlessly - even during the first boot's setup :)

Alright, have a new version in test now with a bunch of fixes, including the 'old' Contacts app. There's some major low-level changes to this one so I need to do some extended testing, so expect the update to be online tomorrow!

P

YAY!!! :D

now.... how do we refresh this thing :)

Quick question here:

In the r5 2.2 ROM I could edit the default.xml file in /system/customize/CID to remove the Flickr entry (as I don't use it) but the options aren't in this ROMs default/xml file. Anyone know where they are so I can remove it??

HTC Removed the option's from the XML

They also for some odd reason disabled Google's own Backup & Restore (Unless I'm missing something)

Hey, Paul. You had mentioned a while back that there might be an option for ODEX and non-ODEX in the kitchen. Is that still in the works?

Yeah, it is.

Hi. Paul. Is there an abillity to include in the kitchen stock android Contacts. apk and Phone.apk? And will this be working?

Contacts APK yeah, Phone wise i've not looked into that yet.

A new relase is pending. See us all scrabbling for the inclucion of our 'favourite' fixes! :D

Any chance of a fix for phone won't respond to 'Reboot' command?

It would be great.

Oooh yeah, i'll try and remember! :)

Check your screenshot of the Dual Message app, you have both Phone icons too :)

Getting rid of HTC Dialler allows the Stock one to appear, but causes FC's in the contacts sync provider

problem yes, and shutdown seems broken too

would prefer shutdown working - a clean shutdown with sync, umount etc

actually i'm wondering what _this_ shutdown exactly does - interrupt the powersuply?

hi every one...

i just wonder if i got this bug or other people have it as well

i select the option of:

Messaging installed to /system partition

This option includes the standard Google Messaging application, replacing the HTC version that is installed if you don't select this option.

and i cooked my ROM with other thing but i found a bug on it.. if i wrote a long text around 4 or 5 line and click on send

a force to close popup on the screen but if i try 2 line and half or less its working... the text send to my friends

so is any one face this problem or just me... did any one use the HTC version is it working perfectly when sending long text..

That also happened to me after flashing "Smooth Sense Icons". After reflashing a clean ROM, everything went back to normal.

Hmmm - worth an investigation on my part.

But my problem is, how to get back to stock Framework...

As if I flash a Full ROM install, then when I run my Titanium Backup to restore all my Apps and Data, I'm gonna end up with the Smooth Screen based Framework back.

So does anyone have the default correct framework file to Flash, or know where one lives...?

Now confirmed - I didn't have an original Framework pack to Flash to, but I did have the Magic Circle Battery Framework with just the battery edit, not the coloured icons.

So I flashed that, and can confirm that for all those screenshots I had posted with border corruption, they work and appear FINE using the Magic Circle one.

So it seems it is a Bug with the Smooth Battery Framework patch, NOT your ROM Paul.

Please let me know you have read this, and thanks to dkodr for the hints and revelations.

As for the messaging wording on the ROM Kitchen, read the second half of your quote in isolation Paul, and you'll see that doing so, it means the opposite to what actually happens.

:-)

Just reflash your baked ROM without wiping - you won't lose anything, and the default framework will be right in place :)

I seem to be experienced a big power drain since I installed the latest version. Might be an app.

From 100 to 66 percent in 6 hours. Surely that's not normal?

Sarcasm, right...?

Mine doesn't even LAST 6 hours without charge...

Being serious though, I don't get much more than this, and I too have found Battery life Much WORSE with FroYo / 2.2 - BUT this was the case with all THREE different ROMs from three different people, that i have tested.

So to me, it's a FroYo problem, not a one specific to Paul's ROM.

And whilst it's a bit better since the Facebook for Android update fix, it's still a lot worse than 2.1 was on my Desire, alas.

Friend of mine thinks it's the new Facebook.

(No real hard evidence)

But I did find the new Face book Contact Syncing adds a lot of duplicates to contacts :)

I'll replace with the Old Facebook and test tomorrow.

That was the 1.3 Facebook for Android update.

Developers realised this to be true themselves, so quickly brought out 1.3.1, to specifically and solely, fix the battery drain issue.

So you don't want an older version, you want the newest version, 1.3.1, if your friend still has 1.3

As far as I recall, 1.3.1, the battery fixed version of Facebook for Android, is already in Paul's ROM bake Kitchen.

On that note @Paul though, there is a newer version of Titanium Backup, above that already in your ROM Kitchen - you might want to include THAT one in your new release for tomorrow...

Lemme get this right...

Installing a ROM, but not choosing the Wipe option, means that all your Apps and Data remains in place after it's finished...?

If so, shoot me for how dumb I've been all this time.

(And no, this isn't sarcasm, I genuinely never knew that - how dumb am I?).

Thanks mate. Please tell me that's right though, before i try it, and then LOSE all my data...?

Paul,

Is this what you meant when you mentioned knowing about an issue with Widgets, or is this something I have done...? As to be fair, I think I only get the two 'corrupt' widgets listed right at the top in my scrrenshot, once I do a Titanium Restore.

That being the case though, if this is an error for me only, and not with your ROM, is there any way to diagnose or ascertain why or what, and thus have me remove, or re-install them?

Thanks mate, see attached:

Beat me to the punch.

I also can clearly see the white line in the top black graphics with Smooth Sense Icon's.

I can live with it for now.

I never use Titanium. Have been upgrading without whipe since r4.

And i never encounter strange behaviour that can't be solved by removing the applications Data in App Manager.

It will save you a lot of time and some space leaving Titanium out.

It's not dumb, it's not having the information you have now, beforehand :)

I can imagine beating myself on the head if I found this out after the many flashes.

What i also do is never check apps in the kitchen that i can/have installed to A2SD.

(Google Maps, Spare Parts, Facebook etc)

Thanks on the Facebook info, I'll check both out anyway for the coming days.

I also don't like the way the new version does not bring me to mentions/replies.

(Geuss my friend was more informed then he let on, or he had a good hunch)

Are there still battery draining issues with the 1.3.1 facebook app?

If yes, is there a way to uninstall or remove it while its baked into the ROM?

I dont want to reflash a rebaked one without facebook and install all the software etc again... :/

Just open the Zip file and remove

facebook.apk from "\System\App\"

Same goes for keyboards BTW i already have Smart Keyboard Pro on A2SD.

So i remove UserDictionaryProvider.apk, LatinImeGoogle.apk & the LatinImeTutorial.apk from the zip.

(and i also remove Launcher2.apk as I already have LauncherPro on A2SD)

I do select the Facebook option in the kitchen but that's just so HTC Facebook Contacts sync get's baked in. The official Facebook app then also gets added in, but it should actually be a separate option. I don't mind this as i remove it anyway, but they do not rely on each other.

I basically take out all the crap i don't need after installing alternatives to A2SD, then remove them from the r7-update.zip and reflash whithout whipe:)

I already reported to Paul that there's still a lot of HTC Widgets that are still in ROM after deselecting Sense/Rosie, that shouldn't be there. But i'm not sure if he didn't get my message or if it's not that high on his to-do list.
