Guest Paulo Nobrega Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) and btw... With a senseless ROM, r7 drains my battery in a day... Morning till night... :) Edited August 10, 2010 by Paulo Nobrega
Guest Noonski Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) May I ask why? What's the advantage in putting onto SD card what can otherwise sit in the on-board Flash (that I assume is only used for the ROM)? Or does the ROM actually share on-chip Flash with the rest of the system such that minimising it's size is actually of some benefit to the system? If you try and build a ROM with too many features selected, will the Kitchen tell you that, or will it just fail at flashing time? Or will the space allocated to the ROM on the phone always expand to suit the ROM image? Left over behaviour from Windows Mobile, where reducing ROM contents would improve performance a bit. It should have no effect on Android. But i'm just used to it. Ran the Rom with the old Facebook 1.2 and had back normal battery (WCDMA Only Setting) 84% since 7:00, Ten minutes of BT Stereo headset streaming and one mannual sync and a bit of using the calc. (reception sucks at my work so that takes a bit more) Tommorow i wil give it a go with same conditions but Facebook 1.3.1 Edited August 10, 2010 by Noonski

Guest klutsh Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Also, a little bump for editing the default.xml file in /system/customize/CID - could do it in the old leaked r5 ROM so that it doesn't show Flickr in the setup wizard (as I remove it from the ROM) - can't do it in this ROM as the default.xml file is different...anyone know how to do this? The section removed was <module name="OOBE"> <function name="Block_No_SIM"> <set name="single">
no
</set> </function> <function name="Step_Config"> <set name="single">
yes

yes

no

yes

no

yes

no

yes
</set> </function> <function name="Data_Sync_Config"> <set name="single">
yes
</set> </function> <function name="Account_Config"> <set name="single">
no

yes

yes

yes
</set> </function> <function name="Social_Network_Config"> <set name="single">
no

no

no

no
</set> </function> <function name="Default_Home_Config"> <set name="single">
no
</set> </function> </module> Some parts are still in the HTC__01.xml You will need to add <module name="OOBE"> <function name="Social_Network_Config"> <set name="single">
yes

no

yes

no
</set> </function> </module> Just above
<BootConfiguration> at the bottom of the xml file. I've not tested this, but it should work.
Guest HearThatVoiceAgain Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 According to Cyanogen superuser 2.3 is out on XDA. Is it too late to have this in the ROM?
Guest 2wheels Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Hello Paul, Had the R7 for a week now and all has been good, nice work. If I have one wish , it is this... is it possible to include a font zip or option that can allow us to change the general font size, or even just for text messages? Can't understand why this has been left off, been years since haven't had this facility. Thanks

Have you tried this? (again personally I also replace the present fonts to a bit bolder Font, but not by using a custom.zip so i don't know if this works. But it should) Edited August 10, 2010 by Noonski

BUT, I have a problem with this... I still don't understand the folder structure for files you want to install as part of your own ROM. How do I know whether to use \system\app\whatever.apk OR \data\app\whatever.apk Does one do ROM and the other to SD card, and moreover, if so, how do I know which needs to go where? Finally, where would I get Foursquare's current, up to date .apk file from to be able to include this then? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I believe that Apps installed to \Data\app are un-installable/removable and in \System\app aren't. But I don't know if Apps in \Data\app will go to the A2SD+ partitions :) But i'm pretty sure some one else can shed a bit of light on this.
Guest Paul Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 /system/app = read only system apps (limited space). Not uninstallable. /data/app = user installed apps, these are moved to A2SD. Uninstallable. r8 coming up shortly. :) P
