Guest EddyOS Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 I assume this is a bootanimation.zip. Where does it go? into /system/customize (unzip the ROM and put it in and then re-zip)
Guest shotten99 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Painfully noobish question: I've flashed dozens of roms, but manually and via Rom Manager. After flashing Paul's tweaks just now via Rom Manager, it's gone through the process normally: Shows Installation from sdcard complete. But it's not rebooting...is it safe to pull the battery? I've given it a good 10 min. I've never seen it sit so long like this without rebooting before...
Guest djshadow666 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 flashed R8 over R7 seemed to work ok however google maps/navigation/places disappeared. i reinstalled it and everytime i switch off the phone it uninstalls again.cant open certain apps from the market download screen, it just force closes with an error messagesome weird issues with 3G. i originally could not connect so i restored an APN backup, this helped for a while untill a reboot then couldnt connect again also signal strength seemed lower however it may just be a network issue of course

Guest V I R U S Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Flashed more times and get com.htc.bgp FC Not really funny. I've removed Weather and Sense. What can be the trouble? Thanks!
Guest EddyOS Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Removing weather gives all sorts of issues - you need it for Sense to work properly
Guest gianton Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Still I get the "android" boot animation and no sound on boot as well. Could anyone advise how to solve this?
Guest sebastiaan15 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 I did get a bit carried away! Boot screen and wallpapers should be back now. P i have baked a new rom 10 min ago but still NO HTC wallpapers no wipe
Guest z7x8c9 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Did you remove FriendStream? Seems to cause issues if you have it removed but still have FB/Peep installed or vice versa I had the same problem too... I installed Peep, Facebook but no FriendStream... but now, I click Sync All, and everything works fine... I didn't do anything, it appears to have solved itself magically... If it reappears again, I'll post ir here
Guest Noonski Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) I can easily open it up, using either Windows own built in zip functionality, or using a real application such as WinZip. But when I try and add .apk files to the Kitchen ROM zip, I am not allowed to - I get access restriction errors. I have tried doing things like changing the Attributes of the zip file so it is not Read Only, but to no avail. I might give 7-Zip a look though in case that lets me add files to the Zip. EDIT: Managed to make additions and deletions to the Kitchen ROM zip using 7-Zip mate. Will re-flash now to see if I get the Nexus Flashing Arrows Boot Customization... Thanks - will report back... Don't you know the age old saying: "When In Rome, Do Like Romans" Just translate it to "When working on Open Source-ish, Use Open Source-ish" :D You can still get a corruption using 7-zip sometimes, but that has only happened to me 1 in 50 times. Another victim of WiNAGzip and WiNAGrar saved :D into /system/customize (unzip the ROM and put it in and then re-zip) Never really tried unzipping it completely, just went in there and broke stuff with a sledgehammer. Flashed more times and get Not really funny. I've removed Weather and Sense. What can be the trouble? Thanks! There's one apk file that needs to stay in Rom even when deleting Weather so this error does not pop up, give me a minute... Edited August 11, 2010 by Noonski
Guest incubus2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Hey Thx for r8 i have a questen works the setcpu oc for tis ROM? On. 1133mhz Sorry for my. Bad englisch
Guest Vulpix Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Strange. I put peep inside the package, but I don't see it.
Guest V I R U S Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Removing weather gives all sorts of issues - you need it for Sense to work properly But i removed Sense as well! :D
Guest Noonski Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) Okay if your removing weather, and sense you will need to put back in WeatherProvider.apk so you don't get the htc.bgp error I have attached the updated HTC.bgp error fix for r8. Sort of reported it to Paul , to leave this one in even when deselecting Sense stuff but it must have gone un-n oticed. These days I leave weather in anyway, as I like the weather in my Calendar.com_htc_bgp_error_fix_test.zip Edited August 11, 2010 by Noonski
Guest Golf60 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Thema r8 Rom runs perfect... big thx @paul One question, is there a chance to put the "market enabler" in the kitchen?
Guest TamirDa Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 sorry for the same reply, but i need fast answears Hey Paul, I rebake R8, and i have some problems: 1. Guest nollie Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 My SD card corrupted so thought I would try and fresh wipe and install this ROM, particularly as after factory resetting my Desire I was stuck in a boot loop. However after baking twice - both with and without any HTC widgets selected when I try and flash I am told that there is a missing file: system/app/WidgetDownloadManager.odex E:Verification failed Installation aborted All I would like to do is flash this ROM. Can anyone upload this file or something so I can add it to the bake and see if that works?
Guest templebar Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 It would be really nice to have this (link below) CIFS module as a kitchen option, haven't tried it myself though, yet. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751296+1, CIFS please
Guest riverboat2001 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) i have baked a new rom 10 min ago but still NO HTC wallpapers no wipe No HTC Wallpapers for me either. But Live wallpapers work fine. ps i wiped my device Edited August 11, 2010 by riverboat2001
Guest shadamehr Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) There's this ROM I once flashed that had this really cool boot animation. It's the shape of a X, but has many funky colors animating at every part of the X. Anyone knows where to get that boot animation? That's the one I am after too. It's a Nexus Primary Colours X, in a lightning effect. As it happens, I have the bootanimation.zip file for it, but having added it to my ROM, I still get the new Android image. Saying that, a lot are saying that a new bake has not removed the Android text new boot animation. Also worth mentioning (for Paul and others)... the new boot animation... on r8 it kicks in a while AFTER you see the standard HTC logo on a white screen. BUT, on those ROMs with a true custom boot animation, there is no white background and HTC shown at all... Any thoughts or insight on this Paul mate...? EDIT: Just caught up with threads, and I see Paul has already said he's added this Nexus Bootup to the kitchen. Can I still ask about the part HTC/part Custom bootup though... The one I had on a different ROM used this boot animation throughout. BUT, having said that, it didn't go in the normal location, this one was found in: data\local Which I've never encountered before, so I don't know if it was using some custom jiggery-pokery... Guest riverboat2001 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) I have found that leaving out the Facebook app in the baked rom solves the constant sync for me completly! I then download Facebook from the market and it all works perfet. BTW Facebook 1.3.1 in both cases Edit....just checked and Facebook doesn't seem to be in the bake now, so perhaps a new bake will solved your constantly syncing problem. ps I also leave out friendstream and if that makes any difference Edited August 11, 2010 by riverboat2001
Guest mmeikelinen Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 I'll fix this this morning. P Any updates when the /system/xbin/bb/ifconfig issue will be solved?
Guest Vulpix Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 I tried rebaking and flashing over my current ROM, still no go, and I still can't find Peep... :D
