what is "smart sync"

i cant find anything to tell me what smart sync does.

what does it sync?

where does it sync it?

i know most custom roms remove it.

but google has let me down. searchs turn up no usefull info.

unless smart sync is a syncml client.

all i know is that it is a "ds client"

it´s an app that can sync your phone data with a variety of web syncing services, like Mobical, Compelson, Synchronica, Funambol etc.

funambol is open source so i can set up a sync for all my phones and pdas..
