Guest venturerider Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) Because of the odex files that get created if you use the deodex version. P Which is why I much prefer the ODEX'd ROMs!! More data space = no need for A2SD (for me). Unfortunately, it seems that only the very first MCR releases are the original ODEX'd version. Soon after, they get de-ODEX'd and then the goodies are only available on those versions. On my Hero, I'm still running the very, very first release of MCR based on the Official 2.1. It's ODEX'd with stock kernel. Edited August 4, 2010 by venturerider
Guest Laban Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) the downside of using hboot 0.92 is that you cant root it! (at the moment) i think that should answer why htc keeps updating it :-) Yes I see the downside with 0.92, but what I'm wondering is if the 0.92 is better somehow than 0.80? I'm using 0.80 because I want root, but if they fix root for 0.92, will my phone be better anyway if I upgrade the HBOOT to 0.92? Edited August 4, 2010 by Laban
Guest dimitris_gr Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Paul, im trying to make a rom based on this, but i get error when im trying to install it... busy box dont find a folder... something like that!!!
Guest djide Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 @Paul, Great work, but any chance of getting A2SD+ with this Rom? thanks
Guest Cowie Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 First attempt at flashing a Desire. I've rooted using the goldcard method - all went well. I then downloaded the deodexed with radio, did a wipe (data & cache) and attempted to flash. It gets as far as starting the installation before immediately aborting. Has anyone got any pointers for me as to where I'm going wrong? Thanks in advance.
Guest Attitudes Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 @Paul, Great work, but any chance of getting A2SD+ with this Rom? thanks He will put it in the online kitchen as stated before (And i think it will be up tomorrow)

Guest Cowie Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Try to remove the rom from your sd-card and then copy it over again Just deleted the update and copied it over again but get the same problem: --Install from sdcard... Finding update package... Opening update package... Verifying update package... Installing update... Installation aborted. I'm obviously missing something.
Guest Zarch1972 Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Can we use SetCpu with this build? or will that come later in the Froyo development cycle? I'm happy with my Modaco 3.1 build and setcpu, but eager to move to Froyo.

I used ClockworkMod Recovery on the same update.zip this time and it installed! :) Was starting to get a bit worried.

Guest merlin051 Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) Anyone found a work around for a fix with certain wireless networks? the 'unable to connect to the network' problem I've been scouring xda and cant see anything about it on there, I experienced with one of their roms too. One of the other lads in the office also has froyo, but he flashed to 1.21 then did the OTA for 2.2, he doesn't seem to have any problems with the wireless unlike me. He is also using an orange de-branded handset, I'll see if I can find out what radio he's using tomorrow. Edited August 4, 2010 by merlin051

Guest chicaneuk Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 I used ClockworkMod Recovery on the same update.zip this time and it installed! :D Was starting to get a bit worried. ClockworkMod Recovery worked great for me too. Restored that image, did a reset to defaults to wipe everything off, and then rebooted keeping my fingers crossed. Nice clean FroYo install awaited :) Reinstalled all the apps I was using, connected to WiFi, surfed the net, setup my GMail, setup shortcuts and widgets and everything is working beautifully. Couldn't be happer!

I'm on my home wireless now and have no problem, but at work using WPA/ WPA2 PSK I can't connect, was the same problem using a Rom from xda too, the ota 2.2 didn't have this problem
Guest b.lindahl Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 ... I can't remember if I had A2SD+ or not (I think not - can I tell from the phone?) ... I can't remember either. Is there a way to find out if you're running a2sd or a2sd+?
