Guest night.fox Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 I used skype a lot on my computer and my O2. But windows withdrawn support for skype or the other way around. So there will be no more update. ( I supposed ). Anyway, one thing I found out also it drains a lot my battery. Any recommended alternative for skype? with video support to our O2 with be nice :)

Guest ray1234 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I also tried Fring, but it doesn't seem to work (no connection). I'm still using the latest Skype for Windows Mobile. It seems to work fine for both 3G and wifi, I don't see it draining battery at all, the only thing I did to save battery life is to turn off the screen when talking - and also, I wish there is video support, but with Skype dropping off windows mobile altogether, my wish will never come true. Fring is supposedly working on a version for Windows Mobile with video support, just like the version for iphone/symbian. I heard the iphone version is only for video calls between iphone Fring users, which is useless to me, I want to connect to PC users. It has been months and we see nothing, seeing windows mobile getting less and less support, I don't see Fring will produce the version any sooner.

I have Skype v3 and Fringland Fring loaded on my phone. While Skype works on my phone, it only uses the loudspeaker for output. Fring, on the other hand, does not work (practically, while it runs without errors). When using Fring, the other party cannot hear me while I can hear them well. I imagine this is an issue with the mic interface (either driver or API within Fring). Does anyone else have any other suggestions? They are greatly appreciated.
