Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. [FIXED] I fixed the permission error by using the receovery files (fastboot, adb, etc) from the clockwork recovery 1.8.1.7. Unfortunately, I still get a black screen when doing the 'option 2' sdcard update. :D Edited August 15, 2010 by EZ44
Guest stuliv12 Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 im wondering, what was the problem and how was it fixed? always worth understanding right?

Guest smokku Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 it Should be capital U... tried lower case already... It does not matter. SDcard uses VFAT filesystem which is not case sensitive.
Guest Ewan27 Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 I got mine into a pretty crappy state yesterday, but managed to resurrect it by following these steps in exactly this order. 1. Perform a factory reset (hold volume buttons on startup and choose first item in menu) 2. Follow the steps "HOW TO RESTORE YOUR STREAK BACK TO FACTORY CONDITION:" listed here: http://android.modaco.com/content-page/312...tedly/page/20/# Make sure you redownload from the links in the post - don't use anything you've downloaded previously. You'll need these files too: fastboot-windows.exe --> http://www.mediafire.com/?ag56yra5j5h11pv recovery.stock.img --> http://www.mediafire.com/?dkylc992a288j4t 3. Perform another factory reset (hold volume buttons on startup and choose first item in menu) 4. Install the 2.1 pkg using the DELL restore tool (hold volume buttons on startup). Pkg file will need to be on the root of your SD card (you may need an external SD reader if your Streak is still bricked at this point) Redownload the 2.1 pkg here: http://www.mediafire.com/?bb9cvm5uaap2z8k You also need to rename the pkg file to "update.pkg" on the root of your SD before updating. NB - When updating to 2.1 you may get a frozen Dell logo or black screen. If this persists for 15 minutes, reboot the device and see if it just starts up normally - this happened to me. Try following these steps religiously, regardless of whether you've done some/all of these steps before and let us know how it goes. Amazing! Followed your instructions to the letter and now I have glorious 2.1, but more importantly a working handset. I really appreciate this post, it was clear and extremely helpful. Thank you!
Guest nascar24usa Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 OK, this is the one to use, spent around four hours trying to sus this - thanks AdamG You the man!! How do I unpack recovery.rar? Windows says it can't open this file, the other 2 files I downloaded also.

Guest gingernator Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I payed for winzip, it should do the trick for ya. Screw that - 7zip! Free and awesome
Guest parcsalooc Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 OK guys here goes!! I have attempted to do all of the steps listed as folows: 1. Download those files first. http://hotfile.com/dl/61663686/7d7e528/Str...399_21.pkg.html <--- Stock Update http://www.mediafire.com/?bb9cvm5uaap2z8k <---- 6941 2.1 Update http://hotfile.com/dl/62324940/5dea6fd/recovery.rar.html <--- New recovery 2. Unpack recovery.rar, 3. After that I go to install 4399 in recovery and after i select via Update.pkg it still goes blank. I have even attempted to go into Fastboot and install the Update.pkg and it says "sending 'Update' (90796 KB) ... OKAY Then after that it goes to "Writing 'Update'... then my dell streak freezes and in ghost looking writing says flash write failed. I am so lost for words. Everything that has happened is as described by other posters in this thread to a T. Only difference is mine stays a brick. I am going out of town for a whole week starting Saturday and am afraid I will have no phone. Do I need to contact Dell Customer service here in the states??? Please help if possible.
Guest jannism Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 What baffles me about this method is that no-one's yet mentioned that fastboot-windows.exe is not even included in that particular download so you have to grab a copy from the sdk or somewhere else. Considering how detailed the instructions are, I'm genuinely interested to know how people are getting this to work without doing, or at least mentioning they had to do that, first. Am I missing something obvious?

The key for me was re-downloading the recovery.stock.img. The other ones caused me to have black screens when i tried to update from the sd card.
