Guest Azurren Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Perhaps but the Market problems have been around far longer than the move from googlemail to gmail. And frankly the "fix" which again involves wiping your phone is not really a fix at all - it's a bodge which does not get to the cause of the issue. I wonder if Google actually WANT us to buy iPhones? I just posted the fix for this current Market bug. If you have any other market bug then it probably won't work for you.
Guest Daz555 Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) I just posted the fix for this current Market bug. If you have any other market bug then it probably won't work for you. Sorry mate crossed purposes I think. I'm not denying that your solution works: "The fix is simple. Change your account from @googlemail to @gmail, wait an hour (recommend 2) then factory reset your phone, sign into your google account (@gmail) and your good to go." This is great (and I'll probably end up doing it regardless by default because I'll reflash latest FLB soon anyway) but is not a fix imo. It is a workaround for Googles foul ups. A fix would be for Google to resolve the Market problems which they created - even better if they had not created the problem in the first place. Android has a great chance to grow enormously against iPhone in the next couple of years - as long as Google don't foul it up. These Market problems turn consumers and devs away and that is not a good thing. I know two people who returned their Androids last year due to the Market problems - they are now 100% Apple converts. Guest Elmo108 Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Google Germany put a form online, asking for the username, the phone and the carrier to solve the problem. it looks like they dont know why its broken. :D http://www.golem.de/1008/77272.html
Guest rulerofkaos Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Google Germany put a form online, asking for the username, the phone and the carrier to solve the problem. it looks like they dont know why its broken. :D http://www.golem.de/1008/77272.html I filled out the form, maybe they fix it. The problem is that the workaround doesn't work in germany because we can't change our googlemail accounts to gmail because of copyright problems...
Guest Daz555 Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) Google started their own thread on this problem back in March 2009. It got to 1027 replies before they closed the thread in July this year. Still no fix. http://www.google.co.uk/support/forum/p/An...77b50&hl=en Quite a lot of issues here: http://www.google.co.uk/support/forum/p/An...d22ee&hl=en Laughable if it were not so fecking annoying. Guest scb100 Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 A cache blasting application called CacheMate (Market) sorted this same problem out for me. Hi - thanks for your help smile.gif I sorted out the issue eventually myself and this is the FB posting - you may want to retain this as it affects according to my internet research loads of people!! if you have an android phone that suddenly wont download from the market turn off the 'labs' feature in your gmail account on line. This is critical. Its under 'settings'. Then read this :- http://www.bitterwallet.com/googlemail-cha...id-phones/29294 ...and you will get no help from your service provider 'orange' and HTC in my case and google wont talk to you - so how do they get away with this?? It's taken me 76 hrs to work out their screw ups!!!!
Guest Elmo108 Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 according to google germany, the problem is solved now. http://www.golem.de/1008/77305.html
Guest Daz555 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) In the end the workaround of changing my default from googlemail to gmail has resolved the issue (I did not have to factory reset the phone so have not changed my phone login to gmail however). I will look at the "labs" fix posted earlier if I get any more issues however. I very much doubt these are the end of the Market issues. Edited August 19, 2010 by Daz555
