Guest kwaaq Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 @Kwaaq, do you have in Network settings: Network operators> select a network operator. Manual ? If you set it up like that, I think the phone shouldn't wipe your network keys. You still lose connection due to the ambulance network (=system2000 which is known to interfere on anything with aerials), but at least you don't have to simshuffle. Yeah, it'll go straight to No Service and stay there. Any attempt to search/connect/reboot or change to GSM will switch it to Emergency Calls Only and will no longer allow registrations on any network (and the need to sim shuffle)
Guest rebelsimcard Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 As i just got my rebelsim II in the last 3 weeks (version 1.1) can i send it back for the new firmware to be programmed on it?. Thanks in advance. Hi have option to program yourself only thats why rebel sim was made upgradeable
Guest rebelsimcard Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Re: altering Network Provider. RebelSIM re-establishes the connection to the provider successfully. Using Virgin Mobile SIM (3G) --------------------------------- select Telstra - search - 'Your SIM card does not ...' select Optus - 'Registered on network' Using Telstra-SIM (no 3G) ------------------------------ select Optus - search - 'Your SIM card does not ...' select Telstra - search - 'Your SIM card does not ...' but then immediately finds & displays Telstra select Telstra - 'Registered on network' (This is precisely the same behaviour as on my NOT locked Dell UK Streak) So this behaviour is identical to not locked for my Streaks. Taking the Streak for a run today. thanks for the feedback thats great news and i get the same results also and many others also now rebelsimcard
Guest rebelsimcard Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Thanks dude. REBELSIM: can i post the updated firmware here for people to use? The only people who can use it are the ones with rebelsims already? Others would still have to purchse the rebelsim with the new firmware if they dont have one? Or even a sim reader from you? Just a suggestion. hi all will be done very soon today when our web team finish and then will be released later today on the official Rebel simcard Website thanks Rebelsimcard
Guest rebelsimcard Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 good to see rebelsim now on modaco, im back up on my streak and so far all testing is going well. :D thanks its a pleasure to be Part of the forum Rebelsimcard
Guest PaulVlagsma Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) Just so it's all in one post: ------------------------------ After a day of use I can safely say that the O2 Dell Streak with the Rebel Sim II v1-2 performs in precisely the same way as an unlocked Dell UK Streak. Both Dell Streaks running build 6941 - eclair - 2.1. RebelSim : Rebel_Sim_II-v1-2.cardfm , size 5,120 bytes , created 11/08/2010 12:03 , CRC32 E3A5D76F Summary of tests: Using Virgin Mobile SIM (900/2100 UMTS) =================================== * Virgin Mobile uses Optus in Australia. * All Virgin APN's are immediately visible after boot! (505-02) (always 101-01 with Rebelsim II v1.1) * There is no R in the Signal Strength icon * The Data roaming setting does not need to be 'on'. * Signal shows 3G or H in GSM/WCDMA mode (depending on signal strength) * Browser, Twitter, Gmail etc. work fine. * Market works fine. * Market now shows paid apps (did not with Rebelsim II v1.1). * Switches correctly between WiFi and 3G (i.e. WiFi wins when in range). * Survives switching to Airplane mode , and back! (did not with Rebelsim II v1.1) * Makes phone calls fine. * Receives phone calls fine - no need for Google talk. * Sends and receives SMS messages. * when selecting other network provider in Settings a. select Telstra - search - 'Your SIM card does not ...' b. select Optus - 'Registered on network' * Very low signal strength area - survives - slow downloads * No signal - 1/2 hour - (in saucepan with metal lid) - regains signal when lid removed. (did not with Rebelsim II v1.1) * On buses, in city, at beach, through road tunnels, in shopping centres, in office blocks always maintains signal, mostly H instead of 3G. * Not tested in country area. Using Telstra SIM (850/2100 UMTS) ============================= Same as above But: * All Telstra APN's are immediately visible after boot! (505-01) (always 101-01 with Rebelsim II v1.1) * Signal shows E (for Edge) in GSM(/WCDMA) mode. No 3G connection with Streak. (expected behaviour) * when selecting other network provider in Settings: a. select Optus - search - 'Your SIM card does not ...' b. select Telstra - search - 'Your SIM card does not ...' but then immediately finds & displays Telstra c. select Telstra - 'Registered on network' (This is precisely the same behaviour as on my NOT locked Dell UK Streak) I'd say the Streak is definitely unlocked. Guest micduffy Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 great work guys. When the firmware is available, I plan to do similar testing of the card on Optus 3G here in Sydney. Will provide feedback but it sounds great
Guest jdouce Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 so when are we gona get this firmware if its working can someone share it
Guest PaulVlagsma Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 see rebelsimcard's post above. the download should be posted late today (UK time).
Guest lozw64 Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Looking forward to the update from rebelsim, if i do the simswap about 10 times i might get a stable connection (till i move more than a few meters) so i have given up at this point. Just curious if rebelsimcard knows if people who bought the rebelsim previously will be getting a free updated sim or a sim writer, or are we expected to pay extra. Thanks for your time!

Guest vinokirk Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Thanks for all users for sending us feedback for the Dell Streak The new firmware is working very well for now and with full 3G from our tests. The Best test to do fot your network sim from your provider is this do a network scan and search for all networks and select one from another provider eg if you using a Vodafone simcard in a Locked dell streak on the 02 network after a network search you should see all the network in the uk in the list now select another network from the list. in this example you want to select another network thats not vodafone soon as you do this the phone will say access denied as your not allowed to use that network what this does is it destroys the authentication keys in the network sim. Now do a network search again and this time select the network you network simcard is from eg this time select vodafone as in this example please post your results and share if you can regain the network even if its lost without taking out the network sim also if it does not work for you by selecting the network then try to reboot the Dell streak i think you will find the rebel sim II with the new firmware v1.2 has the ability to regain network within the phone now so you never need to take out the network sim. You help and feedback is appreciated thanks Rebel simcard Hello rebelsimcard, Which address shall I send my Rebelsim card too for a firmware upgrade to the new firmware?
Guest micduffy Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Flashed 1.2 this morning - connected to 3G - no problems yet ! I suspect it will be fine
Guest azdude Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 hi all will be done very soon today when our web team finish and then will be released later today on the official Rebel simcard Website thanks Rebelsimcard Do you have any inputs from people using US version of Streak? I know only a few people have it in their hands now. I think Jenn of streaksmart.com tried it with no success. http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/08/att-del...134863229f5970c

I think Jenn of streaksmart.com tried it with no success. http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/08/att-del...134863229f5970c hi this new solution should work fine for any network simcard and for any model that runs Android WebOS & Windows Mobile OS the locked phone can be from any network provider and does not matter for now. the network simcard you want to use can be from any network More testing feedback will soon tell from users sharing their experiences in the forum as more models of phones and network sims are tested. Guest rebelsimcard Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Hello rebelsimcard, Which address shall I send my Rebelsim card too for a firmware upgrade to the new firmware? Hi at the moment their is no such option but im sure the web team will add an option to the cart soon for such an upgrade service option some time this week. To save yourself some time i would recommend you invest in a programmer and learn how to do this yourself as this is not the last of the firmwares for rebel sims and much more developments are in progress. Rebelsimcard Why don’t you have the option? I was sold the card under the impression that I could use it with a 3G network, as everyone knows, this is not the case. This clearly contravenes the Sale of Good act 1979: ‘Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality’ So as you can see you have clearly breached the contract of the sale, as the goods supplied to me do not perform as described. So clearly if it is not possible to reprogram my rebelsimcard, the only option would be for you to send me a new rebel sim card out with the new firmware on it

Im a long time lurker on here but this issue made me need to post! For when rebelsim read this my email is [email protected] I contacted rebelsim last night explaining that I am spending £15 per month for the next 12 months on an o2 sim contract because i had a phone i couldnt use and only bought because they claimed they could fully unlock it with 3g. The least they could do for me is send me a usb programmer, something they sell for £10 (and probably only costs them £2 to produce), after im going to spending £180 on a contract i only took out because of this companies false claims to unlock the streak. I even offered to send them the programmer back at my own cost after using it! They writ back simply saying "hi at most we can offer you a coupon code to get £5 off rebelsim" Although they're not just straight out saying they cant help, which they originally did, i still dont feel it appropriate for them to sell me something, for any price, to make something work that i paid £25 pound for in the first place and has cost me a lot of money afterwards. I would appreciate a reply from rebelsim either through here or my email address above as this is unacceptable! And on a lighter note, a big HI to all users at Modaco! I know i've been a silent stalker but i've found so much help and info through these forums.

There are many of us in the same boat, and that boat is that we have all been mis-sold a product- we were told it would work with 3G networks and in actual fact it didnt. To put it simple-'This is against the law'. I cant say it any simpler than that. In fact I will start a new thread now :D
Guest jpearn Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 So you're telling me that a rebelsim I bought a couple of weeks ago that doesn't work correctly as advertised won't be upgraded for free, and I have to 'invest in a programmer' ?? Not impressed.
