Guest wm20320 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 (edited) Hallo Specialists, during start or shutdown my O2 (WM 6.5) there's an annoying beep-sound from the system (not the Samsung-Tune). I can't find a setting for it (such as hint-/failure-/...-sound). Is there a possibility to disable it without disabling the system sound completly? Hope, you have an idea :D thx *Solution found - Scroll down!* Edited September 12, 2010 by wm20320

That's not what he wants. The "beep" remains there even using the "DisableStartShutdownSounds.cab" (Disable Start and ShutDown sounds). I'm trying to find also a solution for that because there's a sound file on /windows that we cannot erase or replace. See my post asking for help: here

I'm uncomfortable with it when i start my O2 and I need the silent mode ... Starting my mobile there are two different "beeps". Perhaps one of it is the "Enter PIN"-Message? I think there MUST be a way to disabel it... Greetings, wm20320
Guest wm20320 Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) I've got the solution by myself :D! There's a small freeware program called "Tonality". There you can change all unwanted "beeps" to "silence.wav", for me it's "startup" and "close program". Hurrah! HugoB, hope you read this and it's a solution for you, too. Guest fs61 Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) @wm20320:; Great solution but which entry did you changed? This beep is very annoying.. Edit: forget it, i got it... Edited August 18, 2010 by fs61
Guest crasy666 Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I have switched the Startup and Close Programs to \windows\silence.wave it is working for close programs, so the annoying beep during closing Garmin is gone, but it didn't remove the beep during windows is booting. What I noticed, if you are in flight mode, the beep on at the start didn't occur. so any hints? THX in advance
Guest wm20320 Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) @crasy666 I 've switched finally 3 entries to "silence.wav": Statup, Close Programs and Default1. Default1 is reponsible for message-boxes and so on. During startup there is the message for entering your PIN. An explanation for all the other entries you can find in the Tonalty-directory under "registry-locations.ini". Hope, this is a help. Greetings! Edited August 18, 2010 by wm20320

Guest crasy666 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) @ wm20320 you are my friend, it is working now, (or better, the sound during booting is not working any more :D ) I switched default1 from "windows/alarm2.wav" to "windows/slience.wav" and the beep is gone. Thank you very much Regards crasy666 PS: perhaps one from the mod team can add this hint to the FAQ, think that is interessting for a lot of OII user Edited August 19, 2010 by crasy666
