Guest beersoft Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 anyone had a problem with the SGS losing time? Mines now 7 seconds out from pool.ntp.org after less than an hour since i synced it the phone has been froyo'ed and my lazy assed googling hasn't found anyone else with the problem later Owen
Guest jmmL Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 (edited) I've been meaning to post a thread about this for a while. I'm on JP3 and I sometimes lose as much as one minute every hour. As a stop-gap I'm using the excellent ClockSync and setting it to auto-correct every 15 minutes. Edit: I should mention that I'm on O2 UK - which doesn't support NITZ. It's possible that people on NITZ-supporting networks aren't noticing because their clock is being corrected automatically by their network. Edited August 15, 2010 by jmmL
Guest beersoft Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 I've installed clocksync might have to resort to downgrading to 2.1/mcr the SGS might be going back as the GPS is a sack of crap (well it is on the jp3/2.2 rom) and the timesync issues an annoying bug later Owen

There are few good reasons for anyone to be using it yet on their phone (even less since JIT isn't enabled yet, so you don't get the epic speed boost). You should downgrade to eclair.. In regards to GPS, it is a sack of crap currently (JM5 probably offers the best experience still), but if you are outside your 14day return period, you might as well wait until September, when Samsung has promised to "optimise" the GPS. Because if it isn't fixed in september, we can be mostly sure that the GPS issues are hardware related.
Guest beersoft Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 well, i've dropped down to 2.1 and the clock drift is better, and I dont have to go anywhere so the GPS shouldn't be an issue (as we wait for 2.2) now all i want is a touchwiz free sgs :-) later Owen
Guest MAMBO04 Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Get ClockSync from Market, syncs time perfectly :D
Guest miker71 Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 I'm on JP3 w/Vodafone UK ... I've noticed a maximum of 1 minute drift, but for example (now) time is same as my NTP'd computer. I haven't noticed this being a problem on my combo though after flashing I did have to deselect time from network, set manually for DST (add 1 hour for BST), then re-enabled get time from network.
