Guest popetodd Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 (edited) Agreed, jutley here appears to be an Applehead fanboi on the troll. He knows nothing about Android, where it is in it's development cycle or anything else about it for that matter. He just wants to swear and piss and try to talk down the Streak and then attack the people who like the device when they respond to his puerile attempts at communication and intimidation. Knew they'd start popping up at some point, they always do. Fanbois can't stand anything that challenges Lord Jobs iron grip on their tiny lives. Edited August 20, 2010 by popetodd

I haven't really taken him as an apple fanboy tbh. He just needs to fire up some mavis beacon. 2.2 is coming. Just be patient. Not many phones officially have it yet. I adore my streak. Best portable device I've ever used for watching movies, reading comics, ebooks, browsing the net and its camera is pretty great too. I only miss my iphone for a few things. Namely, the easiness of texting on it, and ow my balls. Oh, and some of the neat holographic audio and relaxation apps I had. Losing those was hardly a dealbreaker. Okay. I REALLY miss ow my balls. Like so bad.

Fair enough then, I'll take you at your word even though some of the fanbois on the other sites are saying the exact same thing to make themselves sound objective. Here, some facts that you don't seem to want to look up: You do know that 2.2 is only on 4.5% of the devices out there right now right? It is NOT as ubiquitous as you believe, the predominant flavor of Android is still 2.1 at 59.7% with 1.6 in second running on 20.3%. To put that into perspective for you 1 in 5 handsets run 1.6. http://developer.android.com/resources/das...m-versions.html 2.1 was released 10 months ago, we probably got 1.6 because Dell had locked into that version at the outset of development when the device specs were specified in the dev docs. That is how things are done in the real world, specs are made and development proceeds accordingly otherwise they are running at a fast moving target and would NEVER have a product to show in the end. You can install the leaked 2.1 update on your device, though if you aren't running with a 21 device to begin with I wouldn't recommend it as you would then have an O2 device that you couldn't turn back into an ATT or generic handset if you wanted to (the ROMs aren't available for those handsets to flash them back). Given the amount of crying by people who have done just that without thinking at all about the consequences prior to doing it you'd probably not want to even try it lest you be the next one spitting vitriol and crying how unfair the world is because you didn't think things through. Again, Froyo has only been out in the wild since May of this year and is only found on 4.5% of the devices out there. Did you get that? 4.5%. 1 in 20. As in hardly any at all. And Gingerbread doesn't even have a release date yet. So take a big breath, relax and wait like the rest of us. You (and the other crying newbie end users who are in over your heads doing this stuff) spewing profanities and cut downs about not having an OS that has only been out for 3 months is a waste of space, time and insulting as all hell to the people who are working to deliver that upgrade that you can't seem to handle waiting for.
