Hi,

I have a Singapore HTC Desire. Bought 3 days back. Today i downloaded Asian RUU from xda forum and tried to re-installed (same ROM version as already installed). The installation went well and finished. After the automatic re-start, the phone screen didn't come up. (Phone turned on coz the boot sound came). ever since that the display is not switching on :D.... incoming calls work and phone vibrates...

any idea guys?

I'm not an expert by any means as I'm new to this myself but I also had the same problem.

Basically you've got a SLCD screen as opposed to AMOLED so the ROM you flashed doesn't have the correct display driver.

This forum thread will help - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...;highlight=slcd

I fixed mine by creating a goldcard and flashing with the image found in the 'Method 2' fix. This gave me back a working 2.1 Desire.

I then flashed with Unrevoked3 using the SLCD custom recovery image (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748618) and finally flashed with the R8 Desire ROM on this forum.

May not be the most efficient fix (more experienced forum members may be able to help more) but it got my phone up and running again with 2.2

Thanks for the reply... is there a way i can do it without installing WWE ROM.. i mean aren't there a SEA ROM which supports SLCD

Yes but you've blown away your display driver. All you 'really' need to do ( I think .. others know way more than I do) is flash the modified Clockwork ROM (that contains your display driver) and then you should be able to get into recovery mode and install the R8 ROM. Of course to do that you need the R8 ROM on your SD...the only way I could do it without buying an adapter was to ROM the phone with the WWE ROM so I could mount the phone as a USB drive on OSX.
