Change wm and samsung start button???

I have a I8000. If I use the start button to pull up my programs it will open to a long scrollable window with all of my apps. On the other hand if I use the main button it will open the Samsung (iphone like) programs menu. What I would like to do is change the start button so it will use the Samsung program menu "main menu. Can someone tell me how I can do this? I imagine I need to change a registry setting but I'm not sure.
