Guest golfman32 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I have been a HTC user in the past and have received a Omnia II. This unit is from Canadian provider Bell Mobility, running Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional. The device has been unlocked and is running on Telus Mobility's HSPA+ network. I am having a couple of issues and hope that someone may have solved the issues I am having I have three issues: The 1st issue is Bell Mobility has had coded their connection settings into the device. I have been able to setup Telus data connection, sometimes the Bell device tries to connect to Bell's network, is it possible to delete hard coded connection settings? The second issue I am pulling my hair out!!! The Samsung device has the Samsung widgets loaded. One of the apps/widgets is a Exchange/Activesync app. This app will not work, it asks to be re-installed each time I try to run the app, I cannot find anywhere a cab or web site for this app, I have completed a hard reset with the same results. Help!!!!! Please The last issue relates to charging. The device included a data sync charging cable. I tried to purchase locally a micro USB cable for car charging, non would work. I have two cables that work, the cable that shipped and a Energizer Energy to Go cable. I have ordered 2 cables from eBay and have USB to DC connector in the car. Is there special cable and/or special charging instructions fro Omnia i8000?

I have been able to setup Telus data connection, sometimes the Bell device tries to connect to Bell's network, is it possible to delete hard coded connection settings? The CSC placed a file imeaCanada.plg into the windows folder, it is this file that configures the netwrok to Bell. If you remove it now, and the Samsungsettings/network/more/restore connections it should undo the Bell mods. Then you can re-configure Tellus. The second issue I am pulling my hair out!!! Help!!!!! Please That widget never did work on the stock rom, it does work on newer roms (JE1 for example). The last issue relates to charging. I had simular problems with existing USB chargers, some worked some did not. It's not the cable but the charger itself. I have one that only charges slowly as well (trickle). I use my Omnia on Bell, but hopefully this helps you out a bit.

The solution to this requires a bit of handy work on the charging cable. Ganhiru explained it here.

The think I have licked the charging. I could not find imeaCanada.plg, I did find a imeiCanada file, is this the file you meant? What happens if I delete imeiCanada.plg file? Will I loose Telus Connection as well? On the response regarding the Activesync widget, is there a URL where I can download Samsung i8000 widgets other that the 3rd party one's have the widget on the Omnia i8000. I have flashed ROM's with HTC devices, not with Samsung devices. I found the HTC ROM's created as many problems as they solve, are the i8000 ROM available that are as stable as carrier ROM, less crapware, updated Opera..etc? Thank You for the suggestions, this looks like the go to site for advise on Omnia i8000 Dave Edited August 28, 2010 by golfman32
